Sumali si Alice sa Binibining Pilipinas noong 1986, kung saan siya ang kinoronahang Bb. Pilipinas-International.
Siya ang kinatawan ng Pilipinas sa Miss International 1986, kung saan nakapasok siya sa Top 15 semifinalists.
Pagbabalik-tanaw ni Alice, "Yung time na I was only 15 years old when I won.
“Gusto kong balikan ang alaala, but to do it again...
“I always look forward.
“Let’s say, when I did the ‘I can feel it’ [Palmolive soap] commercial, I love that commercial, I don’t wanna do it again.”
Patuloy ng 46-year-old actress, “I want to do something better.
“I wanna do something different, na pag-uusapan.
“Siguro yun yung sa tanong na, 'How do I make myself relevant?'
“I don’t wanna do something that I’ve done before.
“I wanna do something bigger, better, and bolder in the next things that I do.
“I’ve said that and I’ve read this: 'It’s not who you are now but who you are becoming.'
“So, who you are becoming is what my ideology, I guess.”
MARIEL DE LEON. Ngayong taon, ang kinatawan ng Pilipinas sa Miss International ay si Mariel de Leon, anak ng mga artistang sina Christopher de Leon at Sandy Andolong.
Ano ang masasabi ni Alice na anak ng dating leading man niya ang sasali ngayon sa beauty pageant na sinalihan niya noong 1986?
Saad niya, “Yes, I’m looking forward to a win this year, and I’m hoping that Boyet’s daughter has a really good chance.
“I’m cheering for her. I’m hoping and I’m praying that she does her best, kasi pag inabot ka ng nerbiyos, bababa yung score mo.
“But if she stays confident and keeps her head up and does her best, I’m sure she’ll come home with the crown.”
Paano nadi-determine yung winner sa Miss International?
Ayon kay Alice, “First, there’s this press favorite.
“May press press favorite palagi, and then yung mga Top 10 na yun, I think a few days before the pageant, there are Top 15 that they’re already judging.
“So, siyempre, hindi naman natin alam kung sino yung mga yun, pero 80, 70 percent is usually yung mga favorite ng press.”
