Each yearend, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) lists down 10 newcomers who we're betting on will make it big in showbiz the following year.
In 2016, we listed ten names who we thought would carve their own niche in showbiz and, hurray, most of them met our expectations in 2017.
They were Mccoy de Leon and Elisse Joson—or popularly known as McLisse, Ronnie Alonte, JC Santos, Jak Roberto and his sister Sanya Lopez, Kate Valdez, Gil Cuerva, Joshua Garcia, Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber or MayWard, and BoybandPH (Niel Murillo, Russel Reyes, Ford Valencia, Tristan Ramirez, and Joao Constancia).
The said newbies soared high this year and made a name for themselves in movies, TV shows, and even in endorsements.
As we brave 2018, which in the Chinese zodiac falls under the Year of the Dog, we are once again listing ten names from both ABS-CBN and GMA-7 who may become household names in the next 12 months.
TONY LABRUSCA, 22.
Armed with good looks, Tony Labrusca first came to prominence via TV commercials, the last one of which saw him playing a guy who broke a girl’s heart in a viral food chain ad.
With his good singing voice, he landed a spot as one of the Top 10 finalists in the talent-reality search Pinoy Boyband Superstar.
During the show’s run, he was reunited with his biological father Boom Labrusca, who is an actor and commercial model himself.
Tony's exposure in the said contest opened his doors to a promising acting career.
Playing third wheel to KathNiel’s (Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla) love team in ABS-CBN primetime hit series La Luna Sangre, Tony got the ire of Kathryn and Daniel’s fans.
Tony proves that he is not only good in singing but also in acting, making us bet his star will shine brighter in 2018.
