Luis-Jessy, Dennis-Jennylyn, Sarah-Matteo, or Bea-Gerald: Which celebrity pair will get engaged this year?

In the past two years, we have seen celebrity couples either getting engaged or getting married. So who do you think is next to get engaged?

The element of surprise is always a key factor in a marriage proposal.

But since it is the love month, we are jumping the gun on celebrity couples who, we think, will most likely surprise us with a wedding announcement.

We track down the love histories of some popular celebrity couples, and to ascertain the probability of any one of them getting engaged this year.

For this purpose, we use a proposal meter, where there are five rings lined up for each couple.

The more rings shaded, the bigger the chances they will get engaged this 2018.

So, who do you think is next?

JESSY MENDIOLA & LUIS MANZANO

Luis Manzano, 36, and Jessy Mendiola, 25, will be celebrating their second anniversary as a couple in June.

Theirs isn’t a walk-in-the-park relationship as it has been marred by intrigues since they began dating.

Luis was accused of having overlapping relationships with ex-girlfriend Angel Locsin and Jessy in 2015.

The Kapamilya TV host-actor denied the accusation through a social media post in 2016.

Luis said he and Angel had broken up in January 2016, after getting back together the second time around.

They first became a couple in 2007 and broke up in 2009.

They reunited in February 2014, only to break up again two years later.

The I Can See Your Voice host started dating Jessy in April 2016, and they became a couple two months after.

Luis and Jessy regularly post about their relationship in social media, displaying how proud and happy they are to have each other.

In his guest appearance in the ABS-CBN morning talk show Magandang Buhay last September 2017, Luis admitted wanting to marry his girlfriend, barring other considerations.

He said, “Gusto ko rin naman. Di na ako bumabata. I’m 36. Gusto ko na rin siyempre.

"Kailangan ko rin intindihin rin yung ibang factors din naman.”

More recently, Luis said in an interview in January 10 that he can’t wait to have children.

“It puts a smile on my face,” he beamed. “Di ba, some people are afraid of that thought?

“But ako, I entertain it, I enjoy it. I can’t wait for the thought of it to be a reality.”

SARAH GERONIMO & MATTEO GUIDICELLI

Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo, 29, and Filipino-Italian actor Matteo Guidicelli, 27, made their relationship public in June 2014.

However, they have been mum about the details of their relationship, such as their anniversary.

Safe to guess their relationship is on its fourth year this 2018, which also makes this Sarah’s longest relationship so far.

This is also a major breakthrough for the singer-actress, considering the issues with her parents in terms of her love life.

Her parents, Delfin and Divine Geronimo, reportedly frown on any young man courting their famous daughter.

Sarah has had relationships that reportedly were nipped in the bud because of her parents' intervention.

But with Matteo, the singer-actress is standing her ground.

Matteo, for his part, is firm and consistent in standing by Sarah.

The Kapamilya actor has also battled accusations that he has been using Sarah to boost his career.

In an interview last September 2017, he said they had both declined offers to work together.

“Because we want to save our relationship,” he explained.

“We know the true meaning of our relationship. It’s not showbiz, it’s real.

“We want to protect that, and we want to save that.”

As for getting married, Sarah disclosed in an interview last July 2017 that while she wanted to get married, she was not yet ready.

“Iyong totoo po, gusto kong isipin na handa na ako, pero hindi pa. Gusto ko, pero hindi pa,” she said in an episode of Tonight With Boy Abunda.

This is her message to her future husband, hopefully, to Matteo, “I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life loving you and sana maging patient ka sa akin, kasi late-bloomer talaga ako.”

She continued, “Parang nasa early 20s or parang teenager pa nga rin ata.”

BEA ALONZO & GERALD ANDERSON

For showbiz couple Bea Alonzo, 30, and Gerald Anderson, 27, love is lovelier the second time around indeed.

Although they have been vague about it in interviews, their special relationship is obvious to everyone around them.

They started dating in 2010, but for some reason the romance was cut short.

In 2016, Bea revealed that she and Gerald were dating again.

In the interviews that followed, the two were careful and would use the word “dating” or describe their relationship “better than ever.”

In a Magandang Buhay episode last January 17, Gerald was asked for his reaction about a feng shui prediction that he and Bea would tie the knot this year.

The next day, January 18, at the finale press conference of the recently concluded ABS-CBN teleserye Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigin, Gerald explained what he meant.

When directly asked about marrying Bea, Gerald was quick to reply, “Wala, wala. Hindi siya yung ano, e…

“Sabi ko, pag naramdaman ko lang, pag naramdaman ko na, oras na para gawin na.

“But, hindi pa naman. Hindi pa. It’s still very fresh, and ini-enjoy lang, ini-enjoy ko.

JENNYLYN MERCADO & DENNIS TRILLO

Jennylyn Mercado, 30, and Dennis Trillo, 36, are another celebrity couple who are having a second chance at love.

The first time was in April 2010, but their nearly one-year relationship ended abruptly in March 2011, when a petty fight they had one night escalated into an argument that got physical.

Years later, in the first quarter of 2016, Jennylyn revealed that she and Dennis have been exclusively dating.

The two Kapuso stars have kept their brewing romance low-key.

And just this January, albeit thrifty with his words, Dennis made it clear that the next step for him and his girlfriend is marriage.

“Yun na nga lang siguro ang kulang. Pero darating din yun.

"Malalaman niyo din naman pag dumating na yung araw na yun," he said at the presscon of his current GMA-7 prime time series, The One That Got Away.

He added he could imagine himself tying the knot with the Kapuso actress, “Unti-unti, pinaplano.

"Pero siyempre, may mga kanya-kanyang careers pa kaming kailangan asikasuhin. Sa ngayon, yun muna.”

CARLA ABELLANA & TOM RODRIGUEZ

Tom Rodriguez, 30, and Carla Abellana, 31, reportedly have been exclusively dating since early 2014, but the two have never divulged when they became a couple.

More than three years later, the couple are still keeping the details of their relationship to themselves at the same time admitting they do discuss marriage.

The two worked together in the 2013 GMA-7 prime time series My Husband’s Lover, which could have been the year that started a friendship that later on led to a relationship.

They also teamed up in the teleserye My Destiny in 2014.

In an interview in December 2016, Tom explained that it wouldn’t take long before he ties the knot with Carla.

“But I cannot put a timeline for everyone on it.

“Pero I know when it would be.

“Ipaubaya niyo muna sa akin, sa akin na lang muna.

“But definitely, it’s cooking, it’s there.”

Some months after, in March 2017, Carla echoed her boyfriend’s statement.

“Wala pa namang definite plans. Walang date o kung anoman. Pero napag-uusapan,” she said.

Most recently, in an interview last September 2017, the Kapuso actress said she and Tom are focused on their respective careers.

But she added that they also know they are not getting any younger.

“Siyempre, we’re fully aware naman of that naman.

“Pero hangga’t kaya lang naman.

“We’re not saying naman na i-delay siya ng as long as possible, pero hangga’t kaya pa siyang isasantabi muna.”

When asked about wedding plans this 2018, Carla was quick to answer, “Ay, hindi ko po alam! Only God knows!

“Wala, wala pang plans sa date.”

PIA WURTZBACH & MARLON STOCKINGER

Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, 28, and F1 racer Marlon Stockinger, 26, celebrated their one year together as a couple last January.

The two reportedly started going out together in the last quarter of 2016 and became an item in January 2017.

One year into the relationship, the beauty queen-actress revealed that she and her boyfriend have had talks about marriage.

“I’m looking for somebody that I can possibly, potentially have a future with.

"It’s definitely not happening anytime soon, but we’ve talked about that.

"I think that’s normal na rin naman," explained Pia in an interview with Magandang Buhay last December 2017.

From the words of Marlon, it seems like the two are still starting to really know each other and enjoy each other’s company.

They are still figuring out their differences and enjoying in this early stage of their romance.

“Every day, kahit anong oras, I can always call her, talk to her,” described Marlon of their relationship.

“I’m just proud to have someone who has found herself as well as Pia.

“I’m really glad I found my best friend as well.

“I really feel like I have the most fun with her when we are just doing simple things together at the house.

“If you are able to enjoy the simple things together, it’s not that hard.”

MEGAN YOUNG & MIKAEL DAEZ

Miss World 2013 Megan Young, 27, and actor-host Mikael Daez, 30, have been in a relationship for seven years.

But it was only in February 2017 that Mikael publicly confirmed their relationship status.

In an interview in February last year, the Kapuso actor spilled out the reason why he and Megan never admitted their relationship before.

Mikael said that it was because of the nature of their work; he was being paired with other actresses, while had other leading men in her acting projects.

“Ako, I wanted to respect her space and, at the same time, parang nasanay na tayo na hindi ko na sinasabi,” he explained.

About marriage, he said, "Marriage is definitely there, definitely pinag-iisipan namin.

"Definitely pinag-uusapan namin, nag-a-attend kami sa mga weddings, di ba?”

He added in a February 2 interview, “Pero patient pa rin kami. There’s no need to rush, nag-e-enjoy pa rin kami.

“Sobrang happy namin sa isa’t isa, inaalagaan namin yung mga kapatid namin, yung mga magulang namin.

“So, for me, enjoy muna namin yung mga nangyayari ngayon.”

Megan and Mikael are co-stars in the new Kapuso afternoon drama series The Stepdaughters.

TERESITA SSEN MARQUEZ & MARK HERRAS

Mark Herras, 31, and Winwyn Marquez, 25, have been in a relationship for more than a year now.

Unlike most celebrity couples, they have no reservations about expressing their love for each other, whether on social media or during interviews.

They are in a relationship and are proud of it. They are supportive of each other’s careers.

Last October 2017, in an interview with PEP.ph, Winwy said her boyfriend gave 100-percent support to her endeavor to become a beauty queen.

She related that when she joined Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 as the first Pinay to represent the country in the pageant in Bolivia, Mark was very hands-on in helping her with the preparations.

“Gusto niyang busisiin, ‘Bagay sa ‘yo 'yan.’

“He looks at my make-up and tells me, ‘Can you change your makeup?’

“Even mga damit ko, he helps me kung ano yung susuutin, titingnan yung shoes ko, and I appreciate that.

“It’s nice to have a boyfriend who is supportive of what you’re doing.

“Even my bathing suits in my competition, he helps me choose,” she added.

As for wedding bells, Winwyn replied, “I wanna win the crown first.

“I wanna win the international crown first and then maybe… I don’t know,” she followed with a laugh.

“On hold muna yun.

“I’m not thinking about that."

But she also said, “It’s just Mark, it’s only Mark.

"Whatever happens, it’s going to be Mark.”

Winwyn won the title Reina Hispanoamericana 2017, and despite her busy schedule as a reigning queen, she said getting married was not far from her mind.
