Ruffa Gutierrez has voiced out her full support for the newly crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2018 Catriona Gray.
The actress said she rooted for Catriona during the Binibining Pilipinas 2018 grand coronation night last March 18.
“I’m very happy she won Binibining Pilipinas-Universe,” Ruffa told the press yesterday, March 26.
The 43-year-old actress was Bb. Pilipinas-World 1993 and based on her experience, she said Catriona has a strong chance of winning back the Miss Universe crown for the Philippines.
“I like Catriona, with her height, the way she answers, I believe the Philippines will bring home another Miss Universe crown.”
The press met with Ruffa at the solo endorsement shoot of her daughter, Lorin Gutierrez.
ASK ANNABELLE RAMA. Asked about the controversy, Ruffa echoed Catriona's statement about Maggie Wilson and Bea Rose Santiago questioning her special award for Best in Swimsuit.
She said, “Everybody is entitled to their own opinion.
“Maggie is a good friend. If that’s her opinion, then that’s up to her.”
Maggie Wilson was Bb. Pilipinas-World 2007, while Bea was Miss International 2013.
Both former beauty queens had stated that Catriona wasn't the best choice for the award, saying the pageant should not be all about having a pretty face.
Catriona had responded, saying in a statement that Maggie and Bea were entitled to their own opinions but would rather that they celebrate the newly crowned beauty queens instead.
In her opinion, was Catriona the right choice for the award?
Ruffa answered, “Well, I asked my mom [Annabelle Rama], and my mom said that she was perfect.
"My mom kasi watched live."
