Get-well-soon wishes flood in for Mr. Pure Energy Gary Valenciano, who underwent a successful heart bypass surgery on Sunday, May 6.
The singer-actor talked about his condition in a statement released later that day.
Gary, 53, said he initially felt tightness and pain in his chest after his dance performance with son Gab Valenciano for his 35th anniversary on ASAP two weeks ago.
After a series of tests, his doctor found out that Gary's left anterior descending artery is “95% blocked” and has very thin walls “because of diabetes.”
“I need a bypass immediately,” he said.
Gary also apologized to ASAP, Your Face Sounds Familiar, It's Showtime, and his other shows for his absence.
In his lengthy statement, Gary assured friend and fans that he is in good condition.
“Do not worry please, only pray—I have an expert team of gifted doctors, some of them have taken great care of me for many, many years now,” he said.
He also promised, “I will do my best to keep you updated as the days go by.
"Should I remain silent, it’s probably only because I will be recuperating, getting better, and building up my strength."
