Ian Veneracion on taking photos with fans: "I miss those times na you have actual conversation and before you leave, you hug them."

Aniya, “When I’m working, I love the attention.

“If I’m not working, I hate the attention, really.

“When I’m riding my motorcycle, for example, I don’t like the attention.

“I have messy hair, pawis, nakabilad ka sa araw the whole day, why would you like the attention?

“For example, I am having dinner with my kids, why would I want an attention?”

Ayon kay Ian, “There’s a time and place for everything.

“You know, pinaka-awkward, kapag nasa burol.

“May kaibigan kang namatay, for example, paiyak ka pa lang, 'Puwedeng pa-picture?'

“'Tapos naka-smile ka pang todo, that’s so awkward.”

“I say, 'Can I cry first? Kasi, I haven’t cried, baka ikaw tapos ka nang umiyak. Ako, hindi pa.'

“That’s so awkward. So, I think, there’s a right time and place for everything.”

Patuloy pang paliwanag ng aktor, “Pero minsan, like sa motor, 'Can I have a picture?'

Minsan nagbe-beg-off ako.

“Sa totoo lang, I’d rather have a good conversation.

“I miss those times na you have actual conversation and before you leave, you hug them.

“So, there’s a real connection.

“Ngayon, picture, wala kayong usapan. Ni hindi ka niya tiningnan.

“Tiningnan lang niya ang screen niya. Pak!

“I don’t know... I’m sure may magsasabing suplado if you beg off.

“Pero ako kasi, I’ll just say, 'No pictures today, please. Can I just give you a hug?'

“And I actually appreciate it more, and for me, it’s a connection.

“If I can only turn those selfies into a hug, I’ll be the happiest person.”

PAPARAZZI VS FANS.

Saad ni Ian, “Well, yun nga, there’s a time and place for everything.

“Pero, I think, it’s very important to respect the person’s privacy if you’re in showbiz or not.

“And sabi nila, when you’re in showbiz, the public owns you.

“But nobody owns me, not even my parents own me.

“I am my own person and there’s a time and place for everything.”

“Siguro, iba kapag politician. Kasi kapag politician, you have to justify everything.

“The money you spend, kasi taong-bayan nga ang nagsusuweldo.

“But if you’re an actor and you’re employed by a private company, like a network, there’s a proper time and place for everything.

Sagot ni Ian, “If they’ll ask permission, it’s okay.

"If in secret, I find it rude. It’s very rude.”

“Yun nga, if there are moments that you want to spend together, how can you spend it if there are other people going in between?

“So, I totally understand that, and I don’t blame her for not being used to it, kasi hindi naman siya showbiz.

“Even my kids are like that.”
