If he wins the presidency, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte revealed that he would appoint Mar Roxas as chief of Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) or Land Transportation Office (LTO).
Both Mayor Duterte and Roxas are contenders for the presidential race in the May 9 elections.
“I do not want to presume,” said Mayor Duterte when asked how he plans to solve the ever escalating traffic congestion and transportation woes in the country if he becomes the next president.
“But since you asked, here is what I will do: I will appoint my good rival and friend Mar Roxas to the top post of either the MMDA or the LTO.
“I believe he can lead at this level, so I will give him the opportunity.
“If he does well, and he's able to solve the problems on his plate, maybe he can try running again in 2022.”
This was Mayor Duterte’s shockingly candid answer in a phone interview with Top Gear Philippines’ Vernon Sarte earlier today, April 1.
But before the brief phone call ended, Mayor took back what he said and jokingly stated, “Happy April Fool’s Day.”
