Trigger warning: depression, suicide

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

"It hurts me because my religion was everything for me. But you get to a point where you realize there are some things not right here.

"I need to just live my life, because I already know I'm okay how I am," rebelasyon ng 31-year-old American singer sa bagong panayam sa kanya ng People magazine tungkol sa desisyon niyang umatras bilang dating tapat na miyembro ng Mormon Church.

Pag-amin niya: "I thought it would be a better choice to just end my life. You just start feeling like, 'Oh, there's probably no point for me to live. I probably would be better off not living anyway.’

“God would probably forgive me if I ended my life because it's better than what I could become, which is if ‘I'm gay or LGBT of any sorts, I'm going to be in big trouble spiritually.'"

Pagtatapat niya sa hiwalay na interbyu ng Advocate Channel: “Literally, my purpose before was building up the kingdom of God and the greatest way to do that was to marry a woman and have children.

“That was my ultimate goal for the first thirty years of my life. Now I have to decide what is what it is as a queer.

“I’ve been engaged three times. I bought three wedding rings for girls but it felt dishonest and they knew it.

“They could tell like I was not being fully honest with them.”
