Pumanaw ang aktor, professional surfer, at lifeguard na si Tamayo Perry noong Hunyo 23, 2024, dahil sinalakay siya ng pating sa Malaekahana Beach, North Shore ng Oahu, Hawaii.
Si Tamayo ay 49.

Putol ang isang braso at binti ni Perry nang matagpuan siya ng mga local surfer.
Nang dalhin sa dalampasigan ang biktima, nakita sa kanyang walang buhay na katawan ang mga bakas ng ngipin ng pating.
Pinaghihinalaang hindi lamang isang pating ang sumalakay kay Perry habang nagse-surfing ito.
Naglagay agad ang Ocean Safety personnel ng babala o shark warnings sa naturang lugar dahil sa kalunos-lunos na nangyari kay Perry.
Ginampanan ni Perry ang karakter ng isang pirata sa Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides noong 2011.
Napanood din siya mga pelikulang Blue Crush (2002) at Hawaii Five-O (2011).

FRIENDS PAY TRIBUTE TO TAMAYO PERRY
Hindi makapaniwala ang mga kaibigan ni Perry sa sinapit ng aktor at surfer.
Mensahe ng pakikiramay ng kanyang kaibigang si Peter D’Claproth: “So hard to hear of Tamayo Perry’s death today. He was attacked by a shark at Melaekahana.
“I remember him often coming to shore at Pipe and standing next to me as I was photographing just talking story with me. Such a nice person and a man who surrendered his heart to Jesus Christ.
"A waterman saving lives on the north shore and an incredible surfer.
“Ultimately, he’s home in eternity! Pray for his wife and family.”
Nagluluksa namang inilahad ng The Bridge short film director na si Cindy Iodice, isa rin sa mga kaibigan ni Perry, ang labis na pagkabigla sa naganap na trahedya.
Aniya, “We are shocked and saddened to learn that our amazing friend, colleague and lead actor of the The Bridge short film, Tamayo Perry lost his life today.
“Thinking about you Emilia Perry [asawa ni Tamayo] and praying for peace and comfort for you, your Ohana as well as the entire North Shore community and Lifeguard Ohana!
“Tamayo, we will miss your big heart, beautiful smile, and aloha spirit. A hui you brother! RIP!”
Si Perry ang bida sa The Bridge, ang short film na ipinalabas sa Berlin International Filmmaker Festival World Cinema noong 2017.
Nagkaroon ito ng mga nominasyon para sa mga kategoryang Best Short Film, Best Original Screenplay, Best Lead Actress of a Short Film, at Best Director of a Short Film.
