Nagsimula na sa trabaho ang bagong Starbucks Chief Executive Officer (CEO) ng nitong September 9, 2024.

Siya si Brian Niccol, na naka-base sa Newport Beach, California, USA.

Three times a week ang pasok ni Brian sa headquarters ng sikat na multinational chain of coffeehouses sa Seattle.

At dahil ayaw mag-relocate ni Brian malapit sa office, regular siyang gagamit ng private jet tuwing papasok sa trabaho.

Ang biyahe via plane mula Newport Beach to Seattle, and vice versa, ay inaabot ng dalawa hanggang tatlong oras.

Bago tanggapin ni Brian ang job position, nakasaad sa kanyang offer sheet na hindi nito kailangang mag-relocate.

Nakalagay sa ulat ng Euronews ang dalawang provisions sa kanyang offer sheet:

  • During your employment with the company, you will not be required to relocate to the company’s headquarters.
  • You agree to commute from your residence to the company’s headquarters (and engage in other business travel) as is required to perform your duties and responsibilities."

Heto naman ang pahayag ng Starbucks spokesperson sa business news website na CNBC.

"Brian's primary office and a majority of his time will be spent in our Seattle Support Center or out visiting partners and customers in our stores, roasteries, roasting facilities and offices around the world.

"His schedule will exceed the hybrid work guidelines and workplace expectations we have for all partners."

Binanggit pa ng Euronews na lilikha ang Starbucks ng remote office sa Newport Beach para sa bagong CEO.

Ayon din sa foreign websites, aabot ng $113.2 million (PHP6.3 billion) ang fee na nakasaad sa kanyang offer sheet.

Binansagan pang “super commute” ang gagawin ng bagong Starbucks CEO.

Karamihan sa mga reaksiyon ay pagpuna dahil salungat daw ang gagawin ng CEO sa climate-friendly policies ng coffeehouse chain.
