"Did you know that you can donate smaller pets to Aalborg Zoo?

"If you have a healthy animal that needs to be removed for various reasons, you are welcome to donate it to us."

“The wild cat needs whole prey that resembles what it would naturally hunt in the wild."

ZOO SAYS THE POLICY IMITATES ANIMALS' NATURAL FOOD CHAIN

"In zoos, we have a responsibility to imitate the animals' natural food chain—for the sake of both animal welfare and professional integrity."

Mayroon din itong and a research and conservation center.

ZOO’S TERMS IN ACCEPTING ANIMAL DONATIONS

NETIZENS SAY ZOO’S PET DONATION POLICY IS DISGUSTING, ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE

ANIMAL RIGHTS ADVOCATE GROUP CALLS OUT ZOO’S POLICY

Sinabi naman ng animal rights advocate na People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) sa website nito na maling-mali ang pagpapakain ng companion animals sa predators.

"It’s not ‘natural behavior’ for predators from Asia, who roam and hunt for their meals, to be fed companion animals who originated in South America.

"Companion animals are never needed to ‘imitate the natural food chain of the [zoo’s] animals.'"

SOME NETIZENS AGREE WITH ZOO’S POLICY, CALL IT "CIRCLE OF LIFE"

Ayon sa isang nagkomento: "It's better for the animals to enter the food chain rather than being thrown into the wild."

Sambit ng isa pa, "It is a dignified end for a pet that has had a good life."

Isinalarawan niya ito bilang "super nice and professional experience."

Pero, sansala ng isang netizen na kontra sa naturang policy: "How is putting a dead pet on a plate for a caged animal anything close to reenactment of nature?"
