The race for Best Actor at the 2026 Oscars just got even tighter after Michael B. Jordan emerged victorious at the 32nd Annual Actor Awards—formerly known as the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards.
Jordan won Best Actor for his dual performance as twin brothers in the horror-action drama Sinners, marking his first major acting prize for the film.
Prior to this, he lost to Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent) at the Golden Globes and to Robert Aramayo (I Swear) at the BAFTA Awards earlier this season.

At the 2026 Academy Awards, Jordan is expected to face stiff competition from Moura, as well as Timothée Chalamet (Marty Supreme), who also won at the Golden globes; Leonardo DiCaprio (One Battle After Another); and Ethan Hawke (Blue Moon), making the category one of the most unpredictable of the night.
Meanwhile, Jessie Buckley appears to be the clear frontrunner for Best Actress. Fresh off her Actor Award win for her stirring portrayal of a grieving mother in Hamnet, Buckley has solidified her status as the one to beat at the Oscars.
The Actor Awards are voted on by members of the Screen Actors Guild–American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA), many of whom also vote in the Academy Awards. Historically, SAG winners often go on to triumph at the Oscars, making their victories strong indicators of awards-season momentum.
Sean Penn, who was absent from the ceremony held Sunday, March 1, 2026 (U.S. time), won Best Supporting Actor for his role as a ruthless military leader in One Battle After Another. Amy Madigan claimed Best Supporting Actress for her chilling portrayal of Gladys in Sinners.
The cast of Sinners was honored with Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.
Beyond film, the Actor Awards also recognize excellence in television.
The HBO medical drama The Pitt won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.
The Pitt features three Fil-Ams in the cast: Isa Briones, Kristin Villanueva, and Amielynn Abellera.
The Pitt star Noah Wyle was named Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series, and The Diplomat’s Keri Russell won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.
The Studio swept the Comedy Series categories, winning Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
The late Catherine O’Hara received a posthumous award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for The Studio, while her co-star Seth Rogen won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.
Owen Copper and Michelle Williams won Outstanding Performance by a Male and Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for their roles in Adolescence and Dying For Sex, respectively.
Legendary actor Harrison Ford was honored with this year’s Life Achievement Award.
