One Battle After Another emerged as the biggest winner at the 98th Academy Awards, taking home a total of six trophies, including Best Picture.
Aside from being one of the film’s producers, Paul Thomas Anderson also won Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.
Michael B. Jordan earned his first Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Sinners, which won a total of four awards.
He bested early favorite Timothée Chalamet, who was nominated for Marty Supreme. Experts say Chalamet’s chances of winning his first Oscar may have dimmed after he became embroiled in controversy over his remarks about ballet and opera.

As expected, the Best Actress award went to Jessie Buckley for her performance in the drama Hamnet.
Sean Penn won his third Oscar—and his first for Best Supporting Actor—for his performance in One Battle After Another. He previously won Best Actor for Mystic River in 2004 and for Milk in 2009.
However, Penn, who is known as a Hollywood rebel, skipped the awards show this year.
Veteran actress Amy Madigan took home the Best Supporting Actress trophy for Weapons.
KPop Demon Hunters won two awards, for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song for "Golden."
Sentimental Value from Norway was named Best International Feature.
Among the four awards Sinners took home was Best Cinematography for Filipino American Autumn Durald Arkapaw, who made history as the first woman to win in the category.
The 98th Academy Awards were held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, on Sunday night, March 15, 2026 (Monday morning, March 16, in the Philippines).
