Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson allegedly figured in a physical altercation while taping a travel documentary for Netflix.
According to a report from The Sun on April 17, 2026, the vicious fight between the former One Direction members happened six months ago.
A witness told the UK tabloid that Zayn punched Louis in the face in front of many other people. The jab left a cut on Louis’s face, because Zayn was wearing rings. It may have also given Louis a concussion.
Zayn’s remark about Johannah Deakin, Louis’s mother, allegedly triggered the disagreement. Johannah died of leukemia in 2016.
The fight paused the taping of the travel documentary while Netflix waited for a reconciliation between the two.
The multi-million documentary started filming on October 2025. The concept was to see the two celebrities talk about pop stardom and their current lives while taking a tour across the United States.
The filming allegedly ended when the pair reached Wyoming. After the fight, the two immediately separated: Louis flew home to the UK, while Zayn returned to his farm in Pennsylvania.
A source close to Louis told The Sun that there is no hope of reconciliation soon.
“What clearly hurt Louis the most was Zayn’s comment about his mother. Zayn knew how much Johannah means to Louis and his family. It made Louis so upset, it was clear there was no way he would ever return to filming with Zayn,” relayed the source.
Because of this, Netflix recently canceled the whole project.
Louis has unfollowed Zayn on Instagram amid reports of their alleged fistfight.

Zayn and Louis have had a rocky relationship ever since the former left One Direction in 2015, a year before the whole band disbanded in 2016.
One Direction was formed in 2010. Aside from Zayn and Louis, the pop group also included Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne.
Zayn shared in various interviews that he has not kept a close friendship with the other boys after their breakup.
But fans hoped for a comeback after Zayn was seen with Louis, Harry, and Niall at Liam’s funeral in England in November 2024.
