Actress Wai Ching Ho, best known for her memorable portrayal of Madame Gao in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has died at the age of 82.
She reportedly died of a stroke on Friday, July 10, 2026.
The news of her passing was first shared on Instagram by Wai's Daredevil co-star Peter Shinkoda.
“I won’t ever forget you. I learned every minute from you when we were together on and off set. I know wisdom – I’d hang on your every word. We will meet again, my friend. You were beautiful," wrote Peter.

A REMARKABLE ACTING CAREER
Born in Hong Kong on November 16, 1943, Wai leaves behind a distinguished career that spanned more than three decades across film and television.
After making her screen debut in Cadillac Man (1990), she brought depth to a wide range of roles in films such as Soapdish, Happiness, Hustlers, and Disney’s Turning Red, where she voiced the character of Grandma Wu.
A familiar face on television, Wai appeared in numerous memorable series, including Law & Order, Orange Is the New Black, Fresh Off the Boat, and Only Murders in the Building.
Marvel fans fondly remember Wai for her portrayal of Madame Gao in Daredevil, a character she continued to play in Iron Fist and The Defenders.
