A historic moment unfolded at the 75th Miss USA pageant after Virginia's Justus Kelley was crowned Miss USA 2026 on August 27, 2026, at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, Florida.
The 31-year-old beauty queen bested 49 other contestants from across the United States to take home the coveted crown.
Justus was joined in the Top 5 by Aileen Cerchiara of Florida, who finished as first runner-up; Elizabeth Voight of Pennsylvania as second runner-up; Madeline Erickson of Iowa as third runner-up; and Alayzia Christopher of Utah as fourth runner-up.
Reigning titleholder Audrey Eckert passed on the title to Justus during the pageant, which carried the theme "75 Years of Icons" in celebration of the competition's landmark anniversary.
Kelley's victory is particularly significant as she becomes the first mother and first married woman to be crowned Miss USA following the organization's 2023 rule changes, which removed the age cap and allowed married women and mothers to compete.
During the question-and-answer portion of the competition, Kelley was asked: "For seventy-five years, Miss USA has reflected the changing face of American women. If you become the seventy fifth Miss USA, what do you hope your year will say about women in America today?"
In her response, Kelley opened up about her personal life and the message she hopes to represent.
Her full winning answer: "I'm really glad that you asked. We are here tonight celebrating the seventy-fifth anniversary of Miss USA, but we also have an opportunity to make history tonight.
"I'm thirty-one years old. I'm married to my college sweetheart of nine years, and we are proud foster parents of two adorable siblings that absolutely have my heart.
"What my year as Miss USA would mean and look like is no longer questioning if we have to choose between our ambitious careers, our families, and our wildest dreams.
"I'm standing on this stage embracing every part of who I am, and I believe that I can be your next Miss USA."
As Miss USA 2026, Kelley will receive a prize package worth more than $685,000 (approximately PHP42.5 million), including a $150,000 salary (around PHP9.3 million), a Range Rover, a one-year lease on a luxury Miami apartment, a Westgate Vacation Home Club membership, a $30,000 Miss Universe wardrobe (about PHP1.9 million), and other perks.
Justus will go on to represent the United States at the Miss Universe 2026 pageant in San Juan, Puerto Rico, this November, where she is set to compete against delegates from around the world, including Philippine representative Bea Millan-Windorski.
