Michael Jackson's kids are "pretty happy."

The late singer fathered children Prince, 14, Paris, 13, and Blanket, 9, and had them homeschooled while he was alive. They are now adjusting to their lives without him.

A source said: "They are pretty happy kids now. Prince and Paris are going back to private this year. They love the social aspect of it. Paris really wants to be an actress. She loved taking acting classes."

However, Blanket continues to be shy and is schooled by himself at home.

The source added to People.com: "Blanket is still very, very shy. He's still homeschooled."

The three made a rare public appearance with their grandmother Katherine Jackson and aunt Latoya Jackson on Monday (August 8), where they attended a ceremony to donate some of Michael's artwork.

In total, 13 pieces of artwork created by the Thriller singer—who died from acute Propofol intoxication in June 2009—were given to the Los Angeles Children's Hospital, including a picture of his icon Peter Pan and a drawing of his moonwalk, a dance move he was famous for.
