Sinisimulan na ang pagtatayo ng religious structure na magsisilbing “center for exorcism” ng Archdiocese of Manila.
Tatawagin itong Saint Michael Center for Spiritual Liberation and Exorcism, at matatagpuan sa Guadalupe Viejo, Makati City.
Ginanap ang groundbreaking ng proyekto noong May 17, 2022.
Dumalo sa okasyon si Cardinal Jose Advincula, nasa kanan sa larawan, at si Fr. Francisco Syquia, director of the Archdiocese of Manila Office on Exorcism (AMOE).
Ayon kay Fr. Syquia, “This center will minister to those in bondage to the devil who are therefore the poorest of the poor and are usually overlooked.”
Ang exorcism ay isang religious or spiritual practice ng pagtataboy sa demonyo at iba pang spiritual entities na sumasanib sa isang tao, o ayaw umalis sa isang lugar na pinaniniwalaang “possessed.”
Sa Facebook post ng AMOE noong May 19 ay sinabi nito na ang proyekto ay bunga ng pitong taon ng “prayers, planning and fundraising” at “will be the first of its kind in Asia, if not the world.”
Sa itatayong pasilidad ay magkakaroon ng opisina ang Commission on Extraordinary Phenomena, Ministry of Exorcism Office, at ang Ministry on Visions and Phenomena Office.
Magsisilbi rin itong headquarters ng Philippine Association of Catholic Exorcists (PACE), na nasa ilalim ng Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.
Konektado rin ang PACE sa International Association of Exorcists (IAE) na nasa Italy.
Ayon pa sa Archdiocese of Manila, “The St. Michael Center’s chapel will be dedicated to Our Lady of the Angels.”
Si Saint Michael the Archangel ay isang anghel na binanggit sa Old Testament.
Batay sa Catholic writings and traditions, siya ang “defender of the Church” at kalaban ni Satanas. Tumutulong rin siya sa mga tao “at the hour of death.”
