Cameras have already started rolling for Bea Alonzo's new teleserye The Second Wife.
To prepare for her new role as Andeng, the 28-year-old actress studied how to speak with a Batangueno accent.
In an interview with PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) after the press conference of her upcoming movie How To Be Yours, Bea disclosed that her character Andeng hails from Batangas.
The ABS-CBN star said she likes doing the drama series The Second Wife because of its light approach.
"Nag-e-enjoy ako. Medyo mahirap siya sa totoo lang lalo na kapag sabay yung movie and TV ginagawa mo. Nakakabipolar.
"But it’s something new for me. It’s a light soap for me. Ang sarap na yung ginagawa ko ngayon both light projects."
When asked if she's allowed to give information about Andeng, she simply said, "Ah, hindi pa yata."
Based on the title alone, a lot of people have already concluded that their show will present another tale of infidelity.
However, Bea assured The Second Wife's plot will not tackle that subject.
The actress clarified, "Hindi infidelity, definitely. Ano siya, it’s about modern families of today, what they go through.
"Kung broken family and then may bagong tao, may madrasta na papasok sa pamilya.
"How will she [the second wife] be able to handle the pressure, the problems na existing na doon sa pamilya na yun."
Bea also clarified that she doesn't have a child in the series. "Hindi, I’m the second wife. I don’t have a child, I’m just a stepmom."
But will she be ready if ever she will suddenly be given a mother role?
She exclaimed, "Not yet. I’m not even married yet!"
Her How To Be Yours leading man, Gerald Anderson, then blurted out, "Ako nakapagtatay na ako, di ba?" referring to his last teleserye Nathaniel.
Bea added, "Wala pa namang nabibigay na ganon. Ano palang ako, second wife.
"So doon muna tayo sa second bago maging first," she ended smiling.
Aside from Bea, The Second Wife also stars Ian Veneracion, Iza Calzado, Julia Barretto, and Enchong Dee.
In a previous interview, Enchong said that he is cast as the half-brother of Bea. In the series, their characters do not get along.

This light drama series is directed by Jerry Lopez Sineneng, who is known for his top-rating heavy TV dramas Hiram, Kahit Isang Saglit, Dahil May Isang Ikaw, Walang Hanggan, and You're My Home.
