"Takot na takot ako," said actress Jodi Sta.
Maria-Lacson about how terrified she was when she read in the script that she
would be placed inside a coffin for Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara.
During the show's press conference at 9501 Restaurant in ABS-CBN compound last January 10, Jodi recalled how hesitant she was to do the burial scene, which was shown in the pilot episode of the first installment of the Susan Roces Cinema Collection.
Jodi, who plays the vengeful ghost of Ruth, narrated, "Binabasa ko pa lang yung script na may nakasulat doon na makikita ako sa loob ng kabaong. Sinabi ko talaga hindi ko 'to gagawin kahit kailan. Ayaw ko talagang malagay [sa loob ng kabaong]. Alam mo yun, buhay pa ako, nasa loob ako ng kabaong. At saka alam mo yung naco-confine ako sa loob [kabaong].
"Then, tumawag si Ms. Emerald [Suarez], yung [executive producer] namin, 'tapos nakikiusap, magandang kabaong naman daw yung gagamitin—bago at magandang kabaong, sosyal, pangmayaman, [worth] one million pesos. Sabi ko, ‘Kahit ano pang sabihin niyo, hindi n'yo ako mapapahiga diyan sa kabaong na iyan.'"
Still not convinced to do the scene, Director Jerry Lopez-Sineneng and the executive producer talked to her on the taping day of that particular scene. So, Jodi was left with no choice but to agree. She added, "Wala na akong magawa, so I said 'Yes.'"
During the taping, Direk Jerry said that Jodi cried almost the entire day before shooting the scene.
Jodi recalled the moment she was about to do it. She said, "Takot na takot ako na parang nagpre-pray na lang ako at sinasabi ko sa sarili ko na, kamang square lang ang hihigaan ko, yun lang paulit-ulit.
"Pero nung sinakay na ako doon, yun na, nag-start na talaga akong manginig, feeling ko magkakaroon na talaga ako ng anxiety attack na takot na takot na talaga ako."
Jodi was thankful that they did not have to do a re-take for that scene.
Has her toddler, Thirdy, already seen her as a ghost in Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara?
"Actually, yung son ko po, sanay na po sa ganung itsura ko," answered Jodi.
She added, "Yesterday po, nagpunta po siya ng taping, kasama ko siya sa taping, hindi po siya natatakot sa akin. Basta ang alam niya lang si Mommy mumu [ghost] daw.
"Nag-face-to-face na sila ni Chelsea [the possessed doll], so
love naman niya si Chelsea," ends Jodi.
Patayin sa Sindak si Barbara airs weeknights after Lastikman on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida.
