The film tells the story of Seok-Woo (Gong Yoo), a fund manager/single father in Seoul, and his daughter Soo-An (Kim Soo-Ahn).
Seok-Woo has been separated from his wife and took the responsibility of taking care of their only daughter. He has been very busy with his job and doesn't spend much time with his daughter. One night, Soo-An insisted on seeing her mother for her birthday.
The father-and-daughter tandem rides the KTX train bound for Busan at Seoul Station.
Little did they know that a zombie virus has started spreading and one infected victim managed to enter their train. The virus eventually spread like wildfire and the survivors inside the train must do all they can to survive the trip.
