The Voice of the Philippines Season 1 alumnus Paolo Onesa is now gearing up for the release of his sophomore album.
The 22-year-old singer will reinvent himself as an EDM/pop artist through his upcoming new album, which is still untitled.
Paolo hopes that his new songs will be released this October.
"It's an all original album and mostly EDM yung songs so there's a lot of music sa album na people can enjoy," Paolo told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) in an interview at the Converse Philippines Fall/Holiday 2016 press preview at Sky High Bar in Pasig City.
Paolo previously released two singles, "Find You" and "Take You Down," which are both upbeat dance tracks and will be included in his second album.
The Kapamilya singer disclosed, "In the works pa lang yung album name...parang handwritten… parang depende pa, pinag-iisipan namin. Wala pang final."
Paolo is known for his pop jazz tracks from his debut album Pop Goes Standards released in 2014.
He was recognized at the 2015 Awit Awards when he earned the Best Performance by A Male Recording Artist and Best Performance by A New Male Recording Artist, both for his version of the song "Lucky In Love."
However, Paolo wanted to veer away from the genre and decided to produce electronic dance music as a way to reinvent himself.
When asked what made him shift genres, he explained, "Nag-shift ako kasi I felt na it was right lang tapos puro original yung songs para mas makilala ako ng listeners through my songs."
The singer added, "Parang re-invention siya and para mas makilala pa ng ibang tao yung other side [ko]."
Paolo has finished recording songs for the album but is also currently busy with the preparations for his music video.
The young singer said he will also be showcasing his dance skills for the official music video of "Take You Down."
The Kapamilya singer revealed, "Marami pang mangyayaring iba, e, we'll be having dance choreography sa mga music videos. We've been working on music videos, me and my managers. Ang aabangan ng mga tao is a music video from a song in the album called 'Take You Down.'"
His sophomore album will be released under Jay-R's music label Homeworkz Music. Paolo is grateful to his record label for giving him 100% freedom in creating his own music.
He said, "Also, more original music and that's something na masaya ako. Ako nag-songwrite, ako nag-arrange ng music. Ako naglagay ng work sa album so exciting siya."
