Matteo proud of girlfriend Sarah for collaborating with Hale for "The Great Unknown"

Sarah Geronimo and OPM pop rock bank Hale is taking over music charts with their new single "The Great Unknown."

The Pop Star Princess and Hale—composed of Champ Lui Pio (guitars, vocals), Roll Martinez (guitars), Paolo Santiago (drums), and Sheldon Gellada (bass)—officially launched the song's music video last September 26 on MYX Philippines.

Currently, the song ranked No. 1 on the music channel's daily chart show titled MYX Daily Top 10.

Roll detailed how the collaboration started in an interview with Manila Bulletin.

The musician recalled that it was Liz Uy who sparked the idea of both OPM acts collaborating for a song.

Aside from "The Great Unknown," Roll also wrote the song "Kapit" which is also included in Sarah's twelfth studio album also titled The Great Unknown.

When asked if he personally wrote the song for Sarah, Roll answered yes and no. He said, "No, because I don’t write objectively. I don’t really have any foresight when it comes to writing songs besides being honest with myself and making it the best it could be. But yes because I was looking forward to working with Sarah."

Champ recounted in an interview with Billboard.ph that it was Liz who relayed Sarah's message to them for a collaboration.

This took place a few months before they made their comeback in 2015. It took them over a year to finally release their collaboration in time for the release of Sarah's album this 2016.

Champ said, "It was few months before announed the comeback, some friends kinda new about we're working on our comeback and then she works with Sarah and when Sarah heard about us getting back together, she said to that friend, 'I really like their music, I wanna collaborate with them if there's a chance.'"

He continued, "So that friend told us right away, 'Hey, Sarah likes your music and if you guys have a song, she would love to collaborate with you.' We sent her a copy of the song and she loved it so we recorded it immediately and it took us a while to release it."

In an interview with PEP, Champ considered the experience working with Sarah "a great unknown." He explained, "We didn't know if it would work or not. We just knew we had a great song and Sarah liked it. That's all that mattered."

The band vocalist ultimately expressed his gratitude towards their fans and to Sarah for the successful collaboration. He said, "Almost a year after, it's really humbling to hear all the positive feedback about the collaboration. It's such a privilege for us working with an incredible artist and human being."

SUPPORT FROM BOYFRIEND. Upon the release of the new music video, Sarah's boyfriend Matteo Guidicelli tweeted his support for the singer.

Matteo wrote: "My favorite song and my favorite video. Proud of you."
