Hanggang April 2018 pa pala nakakontrata si Derek Ramsay sa TV5.
Saad ni Derek, “Well, alam niyo naman, I’m a sports guy, so kailangan nila ako gamitin dun.
“I’m so willing to give my services to help them in sports so we can come up with sports concept shows.
“They’re doing all of that right now, to see what show they can give me, pero I’m just here waiting for work.”
Pag-amin niya, “It’s pretty sad because you need talent there.
“The network wont work if you don’t have the talents, so it’s kinda sad that the contracts of the other artists are done.
“But, you know, they know all the details and why they have to do it.
“I guess they’re cutting costs to rebuild again so… it’s sad, na ako na lang natitira.”
“I dunno, but again if that time comes, when the time comes, they’re my priority if they wanna renew me.
“They’ve been good to me, so I can’t say.
“It’s not directly their fault na wala silang mabigay sa akin, di ba?
“So again, nandito lang ako naghihintay, na kapag kailangan nila akong magtrabaho, nandito ako para magtrabaho.
“But in the meantime, I’m keeping my name out there by doing movies and supportive sila sa akin when it comes to that, so I can’t complain,” paglilinaw niya.
Nakausap ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) si Derek sa presscon ng The Escort, na pagbibidahan nila nina Lovi Poe at Christopher de Leon,noong October 13 sa 38 Events Place, sa Quezon City.

Sagot niya, “Ayokong isipin pa yun, e.
“Kasi baka masaktan yung network ko, na nag-iisip na ako ng mga bagay na ganun.
“So I won’t entertain that in my head for now.
“Ang focus ko is to help TV 5 in any way that I can para umahon, para maging isang stable network that's competing competitively against these other networks.
“So, iyon ang priority ko for now.”
Pero para sa mga hindi nakakaalam, ang pinagmulan ni Derrick na network ay ang GMA-7.
Pagmamalaki niya, “Nag-umpisa ako sa Eat Bulaga!
