David Pomeranz is in town.

And good news to all his fans, the American balladeer who recorded one of the “largest-selling albums in the Philippines” is here to promote You’re The Inspiration, his latest work under Media Nation Music.

The title sounds familiar? Yes, it is his version of Chicago’s 1984 hit.

“One of my favorite songs,” he said at the intimate press conference for his album earlier today, February 6, at The Lounge on Tomas Morato Avenue, Quezon City.

After “many, many months of trying and trying and trying” to put things together with the “best” Filipino musicians, his latest work came up with a total of 11 tracks.

Aside from Peter Cetera’s song, Survivor’s “The Search Is Over,” which “I kinda wished I’ve written it,” is also part of the album.

You're The Inspiration also includes Richard Marx’s “Now and Forever,” Starship’s “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now,” Air Supply’s “All Out of Love,” Rod Stewart’s “Have I Told You Lately,” Kenny Rankin’s “What Matters Most,” Heart’s “These Dreams,” and Toto’s “Ill Be Over You.”

Plus, Backstreet Boys’ “As Long As you Love Me” for the people who lived through the ‘90s… “It’s a cool song,” David remarked.

The album revives the greatest hits of various artists, and “these are what the people have wanted, and these are songs that I’ve always wanted to sing.”

David underscored, “It makes you feel good.”

TAKING CARE OF HIS VOICE. He performed three songs during the press launch, and his voice didn’t change that much.

The singer, who turned 61 years old last February 9, shared, “I take care of my health physically. I have to watch what I eat especially when I’m on tour. I eat only protein and vegetables on tour. I don’t have carbs, I don’t have much sugar ‘cause that helps to make it clean.

“I don’t smoke, I don’t drink.

“And I try to get much as much sleep as I can.”

He’ll be spending Valentine’s Day in Dubai, then he’ll be back here to do some shows outside Manila.

“The one in Naga City on March 7 is for the restoration of an old church, 1500s.”

Indeed, he feels at home and considers the people his “family,” and singing for Pinoys, he said, “is always my pleasure.”
