Foster Child shares the Special Jury award with another film in the recently concluded 4th Eurasia International Film Festival in Kazakhstan.

This is the third international award for Brillante "Dante" Mendoza's film about foster parents who work for the non-government organization Kaisang Buhay Foundation. According to the official website of the Eurasia International Film Festival, the Special Jury award was given to Foster Child (directed by Brillante Mendoza, Phillippines) and Shuga (directed by D.Omirbaev, Kazakhstan-France).

The festival took place last September 23-29 in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The creation of the Eurasia International Film Festival was suggested by Ministry of Culture and Information of RK and organized by NC "Kazakhfilm" and Unity of Cinematographers of Kazakhstan. Around 70 films were screened for the public during the fourth edition of this Central Asia festival.

Cherry Pie Picache stars in Foster Child along with Eugene Domingo, Jiro Manio, Alwyn Uytingco, Dan Alvaro, and child actor Kier Segundo. Dante's movie depicts the emotional struggles of Thelma, a foster mother from the slums who receives a monthly allowance of P1,500 to take care of young children awaiting adoption.
