Pops Fernandez confirmed reports that she spent her 40th birthday with actor Jomari Yllana.
After her much-publicized separation from former husband Martin Nievera, the concert queen has chosen to become very quiet, again, about her personal life.
In an S-Files taped interview last December 24, Pops said: "Very private ako when it comes to my personal life. It's less complicated ‘pag walang masyadong nakakaalam. I'm wise enough to get to know a person and to know also if it's gonna work."
Pops is not bothered at all by talk that she and Jomari hardly spend time with each other. She said:"Importante yung trabaho ko at siyempre yung pag-alaga sa mga anak namin. Yung kids ko at work ko...Yun nga gusto ko e, he knows exactly what I do. Hindi naman ako nakakarinig ng mga angal-angal."
When asked about Jomari's Cristmas gift to her, Pops simply replied:"Secret." (Chuckles)
Pops is currently busy promoting ZsaZsa Zaturnnah Ze Moveeh, where she played Queen Femina, the archenemy of ZsaZsa Padilla's character.
In a separate interview by S-Files at the Metro Manila Film Festival parade, Pops said: "Ang saya kasi lahat ng tao excited na excited sila. I'm very flattered. For a change, para maiba naman. Marami ngang nagsabi na hindi nila ine-expect na ganun yung character ko. Definitely, ibang Pops Fernandez [ang] makikita nila kay Queen Femina."
At forty, Pops is now more self-assured: "Nung bata ako, I was too scared to think for myself. I was too sheltered with my mom. Nag-asawa ako kaagad. Mas confident [na] ako about certain things in my life. Mas na-eenjoy ko siya ngayon.
"I wanna live each day to the fullest. Ayoko na yung nape-pressure ko yung sarili ko. I don't want to expect things. If it happens, then it happens and no regrets."
Indeed, "life begins at forty" rings true for the concert queen.
