A total of 12 Filipino programs are nominated at New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards 2017.
GMA-7 earned a total of six nominations, while ABS-CBN received four for the festival's World's Best TV and Films Competition. Meanwhile, China Central Television's (CCTV) regional news channel in the country had two nominations in the festival.
Kapuso teleserye Someone To Watch Over Me starring Tom Rodriguez and Lovi Poe is the lone Filipino teleserye to nominated in New York Festivals.
The Kapuso network also leads the country's news and current affairs nominees with entries from Reel Time; Front Row; Kapuso Mo, Jessica Soho; Reporter's Notebook; and Investigative Documentaries.
Meanwhile, the Kapamilya network's Typhoon Lando coverage and two-part climate change documentary titled Warmer hosted by Atom Araullo also made it as a finalist.
Over 200 members of the festival's Award-winning Grand Jury members from the international broadcast and film industry selected this year’s Finalists from entries submitted from 40 countries.
The 2017 Television & Film Awards gala will take place at the annual NAB Show in Las Vegas on April 25, 2017.
