Aside from singing and composing songs, heartthrob Sam Milby will be busy as an actor in the Year of the Fire Pig.
"S'yempre mayroon na akong soap ngayon [Maging Sino Ka Man]. May bagong pelikula kami ni Toni [Gonzaga] at Zanjoe [Marudo], Huli Ka—lalabas sa February siguro," sabi ni Sam, who is gradually learning how to speak Tagalog.
Sam continued, "And then, before the year ends siguro, another movie. My contract with Star Cinema, I think there are three more [movies] that I'll be doing."
The post-Valentine movie, Huli Ka, will be Sam's third movie under Star Cinema. The earlier two were You Are the One with John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo, and Close to You opposite Toni.
Just before he left Ogie Diaz's birthday party at MDC Bar in Greenhills, San Juan, last January 6, Sam told PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal) that he is currently enjoying his acting career. He especially enjoys his first teleserye, Maging Sino Ka Man.
He said, "Grabe! Siyempre, I'm so excited that, I mean, it's my first soap. Not only that it's my first soap, it's doing well. People are liking it."
Added he, "And not only that, I'm working with, you know, some of the best by far in the business. I'm still a beginner. You know, bago pa. I mean, I'm still learning a lot. The directors are really great—Direk Eric [Reyes], Direk Mae [Czarina Cruz]. So I'm very very happy that the people are enjoying it."
The 22-year-old singer-actor was a little-known commercial model before he became an instant celebrity in Pinoy Big Brother. Inside the PBB house, his talent in music was first noticed through the song "Magmahal Muli," which he composed and performed with fellow PBB housemate Say Alonzo. By January 2006, Sam had launched his self-titled debut album, which became a huge hit.
Sam will have a major concert this year with fellow heartthrob Piolo Pascual.
"I have a big concert sa susunod na buwan. It's back-to-back with me and Piolo," said Sam.
The concert, dubbed "Hearththrobs," will be held on February 2 and 3 at the Music Museum. (It will go up against Ara Mina's one-day concert at the Araneta Coliseum.)
Die-hard fans of Sam may also expect another album from him.
"And then, definitely a new album. Hopefully I have a lot of originals that I'll do," the handsome and soft-spoken Sam said.
