Marian Rivera is vocal in saying that playing the iconic Pinoy superheroine Darna is one of the highlights of her showbiz career.
She was handpicked back then to play the plum role by “unanimous” decision among GMA Network bigwigs in 2009.
Looking back, Marian shared how reprising Darna changed her life.
“Well, lalo akong naging fit nun, e. At saka inalagaan ko talaga yung sarili ko.
“Para maging Darna, it’s epic. Talagang suwerte.”
Asked to give advice to the next lucky lady who’ll get to play Darna, the 32-year-old actress replied, “Tips? The mere fact na ibigay sa kanya yung role na yun masuwerte siya.
“Alagaan niya at gawin niya lahat para ma-justify niya yung character niya.”
It was in June 2016 when ABS-CBN’s film company Star Cinema announced that Angel Locsin was chosen to topbill the movie remake of Darna.
As it happened, Angel got the chance to portray the Pinoy superheroine in GMA Network’s TV adaptation of it back in 2005.
But as of March 2017, ABS-CBN released an official statement stating that Angel can no longer play Darna due to health reasons.
