Jake Zyrus on Charice: "Chicks, pero hindi kami talo."
Jake Zyrus held a concert for the first time since changing his identity and coming out as a transgender.
On Friday night, October 6, the Music Museum was filled with fans who dubbed themselves members of the JZ Army.
JZ is, of course, for Jake Zyrus, the new name adopted by internationally known singer Charice.
Fans actually wore camouflage fatigue shirts to show support for JZ.
Many were curious to know whether his mother, Raquel Pempengco, would attend Jake's concert after their very public spat after Jake told his story on ABS-CBN's MMK.
Jake's mother and brother Carl were not present at the concert, but Jake's grandmother, Tess Relucio, attended the concert titled I Am Jake Zyrus.
While introducing his grandmother, whom he adressed as Nanay, Jake revealed,"First time na manood ni Nanay ng concert ko. I'm so proud na first time niya 'ko mapanood at ganito na ako.
"I love you, Nanay."
Before performing the song that he dedicated to his family, Jake revealed that he deliberated whether or not he would perform "Maghintay Ka Lamang" because of all the struggles in the past.
"Hindi ko alam kung kaya kong kantahin ito nang hindi umiiyak," admitted the 25-year-old singer.

In the middle of his performance of "Maghintay Ka Lamang," Jake became teary-eyed and motioned for his relatives to come up the stage. But in the end, he went down from the stage and sang in front of his grandmother who was seated in the middle of the Music Museum.
His grandmother sang a few lines from the song, earning cheers from the crowd. Lola Tess held Jake's face and whispered in his ear while the singer appeared to be holding back his tears.
One of the highlights of the evening was Jake's duet with a recording of Charice.
A video of Charice singing "Before It Explodes" was shown on the big screen, while Jake performed the single composed by Bruno Mars.
Here are snippets of Jake Zyrus's performances during his concert #IAmJakeZyrus:
Jake Zyrus told the crowd at the Music Museum, "Maraming salamat sa tiwala niyo. Maraming salamat binigyan niyo 'ko ng chance. We know how it is in this world today.
"Natakot ako na walang manood because I'm a transgender person, kaya overwhelmed pa rin ako. And it's still taboo in this country."

Jake said with a smile, "I am filled with happiness. Masaya ako sa show na ito.
"What you see here tonight, this is equality, this is freedom.
"Hindi natin pwedeng sabihin na opinion, pero insulto talaga. You know how it is in this world.
"I'm so happy na mas marami pa rin tayong nagpapakita sa mundo kung ano ang true colors natin."

Jake Zyrus joked about his former persona Charice, "Chicks pero hindi kami talo."
When the life story of Jake Zyrus was shown on Maalaala Mo Kaya this year, his grandmother Tess Relucio agreed with the version shown on ABS-CBN's drama anthology show, even if it put her daughter, Raquel Pempengco, in a bad light.

Tess Relucio, the maternal grandmother of Jake, gave him a kiss on the cheek and whispered in his ear. Before the concert started, fans kept cheering that they loved Lola Tess.
Last June, Tess Relucio admitted in an interview that she was hurt when Charice changed her name to Jake Zyrus.

Jake said, "Tonight is all about songs that narrate my very colorful journey. Songs that narrate all our stories or simply songs we love to listen to." He promised audiences that his concert is a time for "#hugot."
"Nanginginig ako. To be honest, ito ang dream concert ko," disclosed Jake. "Minsan kasi pag nagpe-perform ako sa ASAP, nakikita ko iba-ibang fans na nandiyan, pero ngayon nakikita ko may ibang tao [na hindi ko kilala]. Sa dinamidami na nagawa kong concerts over the years, para sa akin ito ang best."

Erik Santos surprised Jake by suddenly joining him onstage to sing "I'll Never Go Far Away From you."
