It was no secret that Kris Aquino was the every essence of a stage mother during the filming of My Little Bossings, where her son James “Bimby” Yap Jr. makes his acting debut.
Kris did just about everything for Bimby—from hiring an acting coach and having practice sessions at home to sitting beside director Marlon Rivera during a take.
What she didn’t do, though, was mix business with pleasure. Given her special rapport with co-star Vic Sotto with whom she was once linked, Kris has totally shut out any idea of a possible romance with the actor/comedian.
Kris shared with reporters during the movie’s press conference, “I want to work with him so mixing business with pleasure… Okay na kasi kami, e, ayoko nang maging awkward. Di rin maganda ang track record ko sa love, so wag na lang.”
My Little Bossings, which Kris and Vic are co-producing, is one of the official entries to the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). Other stars include child star Ryzza Mae Dizon and former Eat Bulaga mainstay Aiza Seguerra.
As to the success of her business partnership with Vic, Kris elaborated. “Sobrang taas ng respeto ko sa kanya and kaya siguro nag-work itong [project namin] kasi may respeto kami. Gusto ko talaga mairaos yung first project ni Bimby. We stuck to our own places…Beyond that, why complicate life kung okay naman? The truth is kahanga-hanga siya. I’d like to believe naman na, don’t mess with what’s okay.”
Vic, on the other hand, described his friendship with Kris as special. He averred, “Kahit nagkikita kami o hindi, the friendship will always be there. Di ko na ipagkakait yung linya ni Ryzza na, ‘We’re just friends.’ [Our relationship goes] beyond producing and acting. It’s a lot more than that. Kami na lang nagkakaintindihan dun.”
Catch the reunion of Kris and Vic when My Little Bossings opens in cinemas on December 25.
