Philippine Queen of Jazz Annie Brazil dies

Annie Brazil, tagged as Philippines Queen of Jazz, had been in and out of the hospital after suffering stroke in 2017. She passed away Tuesday night, March 5.

Pumanaw na ang tinaguriang Queen of Jazz ng Pilipinas na si Annie Brazil.

Binawian siya ng buhay nitong Martes ng gabi, March 5, sa edad na 85.

Noong November 2017 ay isinugod si Annie sa ospital matapos ma-stroke.

Simula noon, labas-masok na ang legendary singer sa pagamutan.

Bumuhos naman kaagad ang pakikiramay ng mga kaibigan at kakilala ng singer sa kanyang Facebook account at sa anak nitong si Richard Merk, isa ring singer.

Anim na taon pa lamang ay kumakanta na si Annie sa harap ng mga Amerikanong sundalo sa Clark Air Base at sa Jimmy's Night Spot sa Dewey Boulevard.

Noong kanyang pagdadalaga, napunta siya sa Okinawa, Japan, kung saan nakilala niya ang American Air Force disc jockey na si James Bernard Merk, ang ama ng anak niyang si Richard.

Noong 1959, pinakasalan ni Annie ang Amerikanong si David Wolfe at nagkaanak sila ng pito—kasama na ang dating aktres at singer na si Rachel Ann Wolfe.

Naghiwalay sina Annie at David taong 1972.

Nakalagak ang mga labi ni Annie sa Loyola Memorial Chapels sa Guadalupe, Makati.

Magsisimula naman ang public viewing mamayang alas-dose ng tanghali, March 6.
