“I’m okay with it!” natatawang sagot niya.

“I have been intimidated by many and from them, I have learned,” bungad niya.

“I was growing up with the Charito Solises, Ishmael Bernals, the Lino Brockas.

“Come on, tell me if they’re not intimidating."

Patuloy ni Cherie, “And it was because of the strength of their presence and their character, I think I have come to learn and so much more of what it takes to step up to the plate and claim your rightful place by saying, 'I know I can do this well.'”

“And married to Toni Rogoff for 21 years, I have also been exposed to different people in the world and I was very intimidated.

"[My] exposure to his market was prime ministers and diplomats, and this was his audience."

“I mean, I couldn’t just be a little probinsyana sitting in the corner, and I had to also learn to grow and be able to apply myself in the presence of these.

"Why not and why can’t we?"

“And I am seeing already so many Filipinos all over the world that have been stepping up to the plate and blooming, so I have hope.”

CHERIE GIL AND HER KIDS ABROAD

Saad ni Cherie, “They all have their own [place]. It’s a diaspora already of the family.

“That’s the sad part of being in a foreign land and then they’re doing dorms.

“Not exactly ideal, but I still have the values of a Filipino.”

“So when I come there, I make it a point they hang out with me. We cook home-cooked meals.”
