Lilibeth Romero regrets not saying goodbye to longtime partner Eddie Garcia

Sa huling lamay ng batikang aktor na si Eddie Garcia, full military honors ang ibinigay sa kanya ng Philippine Army.

Ginanap ang seremonya sa The Heritage Memorial Park, Taguig City, nitong Linggo ng gabi, June 23.

Iniabot din sa longtime partner ni Eddie na si Lilibeth Romero ang watawat ng Pilipinas bilang simbolo ng pagkilala sa ginawang sakripisyo at ibinigay na karangalan sa bansa ng namayapa.

Bago pumasok sa showbiz, naging bahagi si Eddie ng Philippine Scout troops na ipinadala sa Okinawa, Japan noong World War II.

Pumanaw ang veteran actor noong June 20, 2019 sa edad na 90.

Si Eddie ay kinikilalang haligi ng showbiz industry at ang kanyang career ay tumagal ng 70 taon.

LILIBETH ROMERO HONORS EDDIE GARCIA

Pagkataos ng 21-gun salute ceremony, nagbigay ng eulogies ang pamilya at malapit na mga kaibigan ni Eddie.

Huling nagbigay ng eulogy si Lilibeth, kung saan sinariwa niya ang mga huling sandali ni Eddie sa Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ng Makati Medical Center.

May mga sandali raw na gusto niyang sabihin kay Eddie na magpahinga na, pero magbabago raw ang kanyang isip.

May mga sandali rin daw na may response mula kay Eddie na tila dinidinig ang pakiusap ni Lilibeth.

Hanggang noong June 20, Huwebes, ipinatawag si Lilibeth ng nurse at bodyguard dahil sa pagbaba ng vital signs ni Eddie.

Dito na raw sinabihan ni Lilibeth kay Eddie na magpahinga na ito at huwag silang alalahanin.

Pumanaw si Eddie bandang 4:55 P.M. noong Huwebes.

Sa kanyang eulogy, sinabi ni Lilibeth na ikinagulat niya nang masaksihan na marami pala talaga ang nagmamahal kay Eddie.

“I never realized that Eddie is this loved, this respected, and this popular.

“When I had him, I didn’t realize this because I looked at this [relationship] as man and woman living together.”

Ikinuwento pa ni Lilibeth ang pagiging normal ng kanilang pagsasama, gaya ng pagpunta sa supermarket na habang siya ay namimili ay si Eddie naman ang nagtutulak ng pushcart.

Dagdag niya, “I didn’t really idolize him like a hero.

"Of course, I knew he was my protector.

“I thought he was my superman…”

Nagbahagi rin ng mensahe si Lilibeth hinggil sa pagpanaw ng aktor.

“To everybody who shared this, you appreciate what you have now.

“Well, I appreciated him, but you appreciate what you have now because when he’s lost and you don’t know when it will come and the sisi...

"Not really the sisi, it’s not able to say able you love him, or things like that, or say goodbye...

“I never said goodbye to him because I thought he was immortal.”

Nagpasalamat din si Lilibeth na karangalang ibinigay ng Philippine Army sa batikang aktor.

“And to the Philippine Army, this is the best recognition I have accepted for Eddie.

“Eddie wanted to be a soldier and with this recognition has served the family very well.”
