Sa pinakaunang pagkakataon matapos mamahinga sa showbiz ng limang buwan ay nakapanayam namin si Lovi Poe.
Naganap ang pakikipag-usap ng PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) kay Lovi sa set ng Beautiful Justice nitong nakaraang Biyernes, September 20, sa Felicidad Events Mansion sa Roosevelt Avenue sa Quezon City.
Guest si Lovi sa naturang GMA Primetime series.
Umpisa niyang pahayag, “I was in L.A. I took a break.
“I feel like I just needed to, I dunno, probably give myself some time, 'coz I feel like I’ve been working since I was fifteen.
"And every day feels like I’ve been working since then. So I felt like I needed to hit the reset button and just replenish my soul and at the same time learn my craft while I was out of the country.”
ACTING LESSONS
Sa limang buwan na iyon, bukod sa bakasyon ay kumuha ng acting lessons si Lovi sa iba-ibang acting coach sa L.A.
Paglilinaw niya, “More of like acting coaches and one-on-one acting coach.
"It’s not a course, it’s just different. I had different acting coaches na kasama.
"Hindi siya school, acting coach siya talaga, one-on-one. Iba-iba sila.”
Bakit sa Los Angeles?
Tugon niya, “Because I think it’s the most... it’s the place where actors really learn. aside from New York, of course.
"But, yeah, I guess I just wanted to have my alone time and also at the same time, learn nga and study.
“So it was just more of like, time to give myself like a break from everything and just like isa din sa mga gusto kong matutunan is to actually live alone.
“I mean I’ve been living independently for like since probably, I dunno, when I was nineteen, humiwalay na ako, I was living on my own.
“But to actually live alone, I’ve never done. So dun ko na-experience yun.”
Mahusay na siyang aktres. Bakit kailangan pa niya ng acting coach?
Tumawa muna si Lovi bago sumagot.
Paliwanag niya, “Siyempre parang ako, I wanna learn different things from different people.
"Ako naman, kahit nga dito sa set, sa taping, ang dami kong natututunan sa co-actors ko.
"So I feel like to be able to do better things, better projects, I feel like my network—since they’ve been trusting me with great projects—I feel like they deserve the best.
“So it’s like my way of giving back as well, of course, learning from the best of the best as well.
"So it’s just like, going out there and learning from different people. Iba yung experience, e.
“So it’s like iba yung atake. Kasi I’m used to a certain technique, or a certain routine here, so parang iba naman yung natutunan ko dun.”
RETHINKING THE ACTING PROCESS
Malaki ba ang kaibahan ng pag-arte sa Amerika at sa Pilipinas?
“Ito yung problem though, with studying. It’s not a problem!” at tumawa ang aktres.
“It’s actually a good problem. Since I’ve been doing this, automatic na sa akin every day na nagte-taping ako na, ‘O, pag ganito sa eksena, ganito yung gagawin ko.’
“Ngayong nag-aral ako, ngayong pinag-aralan ko siya, pag nagbabasa ako ng script, hindi ko alam kung tama ba, na nagiging kalkulado siya, sa utak ko.
“Because before it comes out naturally, now that I’ve studied, somehow, I try to apply the things that I learned, so I don’t know if it still would come out naturally or if it’s too calculated.
“But I think that’s the beauty of acting, you know, you get to do things repeatedly and make it brand new!
“So I think that’s the trick, or that’s what I should actually be able to show or do. “That even if it is calculated, it shouldn’t look calculated.”
CONSTANT LEARNING
Ano ang nag-motivate kay Lovi para kumuha ng one-one-one acting coach?
“Nothing really. It’s just that, ako kasi I believe that you should never stop learning.
"Ako parang, just because you’re used to something, doesn’t mean that’s good enough.
“You know, it’s a never ending learning process. Parang kasi, yeah I think it would just be nice to be surrounded by new people and learn from people who I don’t know on a day-to-day basis or people who don’t know me as well.
”So parang it’s nice to be able to do that.”
May mga pagkakataon daw na may ilang kasabay si Lovi sa kanyang acting coach pero masa madalas raw ang one-on-one acting class.
