A day after GMA-7 officially announced that Jennylyn Mercado will play the role of Dr. Maxine dela Cruz in Descendants of the Sun, the Kapuso actress has already started taping for the series.
Jennylyn's co-manager, Katrina Aguila, sent behind-the-scenes photos of Jennylyn's first taping day to PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal), some of which were also posted on Jennylyn's Facebook page.

On her first taping day, Jennylyn already did a scene with her Descendants of the Sun leading man Dingdong Dantes.

Jennylyn also did scenes with Bobby Andrews, who plays the hospital director in the Kapuso version.

Jennylyn, who was wearing her character's surgeon uniform, received instructions from Descendants of the Sun director Dominic Zapata for her scenes.

Yesterday, October 3, Jennylyn went through medical training for her role as a doctor in the Philippine version of DOTS.
JENNYLYN MERCADO AS MAXINE IN DESCENDANTS REMAKE
Yesterday, October 3, GMA-7 officially announced that Jennylyn Mercado will play Dingdong Dantes's leading lady in the network's remake of Descendants of the Sun.
However, PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) already reported on May 1, 2019, via its Cabinet Files column, that Jennylyn was chosen for the role of Maxine.
Back then, Jennylyn was still doing the prime-time series Love You Two with Gabby Concepcion.
On June 20, the identities of the major cast members of Descendants of the Sun were revealed, including Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Rocco Nacino.
During Jennylyn's contract renewal with GMA-7 on July 26, the actress said that she doesn't know yet if she would be playing the leading lady in Descendants of the Sun.
According to Jennylyn's co-manager, Katrina Aguila, Jennylyn's inclusion in Descendants of the Sun was only confirmed on September 16, after they received a call from management.
It was the day after Jennylyn and Dingdong wrapped up StarStruck, a reality show where they worked as hosts.
GMA-7 has yet to announce the airing date of its adaptation of Descendants of the Sun.
