Dahil sa kanyang advocacy to save the planet, ginawang National Goodwill Ambassador for the Philippines ang actress-singer na si Antoinette Taus ng United Nations Environment Programme.
Natanggap ni Antoinette ang designation na ito sa isang ceremony held last September 26 during the World Environment and Health Day in Manila.
Ayon sa post ng UN Environment Asia Pacific sa kanilang Facebook page:
“The UN Environment recognized her efforts in engaging Filipinos to care for Mother Nature.
“One is through her non-profit CORA, which harnesses the power of volunteers to address issues such as plastic pollution.
“It also highlights her social enterprise The Sustainable Planet, which benefits indigenous peoples and marginalized communities in the country."
Dagdag pa ni Dechen Tsering, UN Environment Asia and the Pacific Office regional director:
“Antoinette is as passionate a voice for the environment as they come.
“We are extremely pleased she will be helping us raise the profile of the range of environmental challenges and opportunities facing the Philippines."
Kabilang sa projects ng 39-year old actress-singer ay ang coastal cleanups sa Pilipinas, kasama na rito ang Manila Bay at Boracay. Pinangungunahan din niya ang pag-ban sa plastic products via #BeatPlasticPollution.
“Everything we do, we do for the children of the world and the generations to come," post ni Antoinette sa Instagram.
Sa pagiging National Goodwill Ambassador ni Antoinette, nagpasalamat ito sa collaboration niya with the youth sector, local communities at media partners.
“Thank you (UN Environment Programme) for this incredible honor and for the opportunity to join you on this urgent and important mission for people and our one and only planet.
“When we protect the planet, we are protecting the people that we love.
“Each action as an individual has the power to create amazing change, but just imagine what we can achieve if we take action together."
