The new Miss Tourism International is a Filipina.
The country’s bet, Cyrille Payumo, was crowned Miss Tourism International 2019 during the coronation night on Friday, November 8, at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Cyrille bested 38 other contestants to win the fifth Miss Tourism International crown for the Philippines, at the pageant held at Sunway Resort Hotel and Spa.
Aside from winning the crown, Mutya Pilipinas announced on Facebook that the beauty titlist from Porac, Pampanga, also won Best in National Costume.
Cyrille’s stunning Filipiniana gown was designed by Rich Sabinian.
Other winners at last night’s pageant were Gabriella Patricia Mandolang of Indonesia, Miss Tourism Queen of the Year International; Kateryna Kachashvili of Ukraine, Miss Tourism Global; Joanna Babynko of Poland, Miss Tourism Cosmopolitan International; and Chan Sotima of Cambodia, Dreamgirl of the Year International.
CYRILLE REPLACES TYRA GOLDMAN
Cyrille was not the original choice for the international competition. She placed first runner-up in the 51st Mutya Pilipinas pageant last August.
She replaced the country’s original representative, Mutya Pilipinas Tourism International Tyra Goldman, who was not allowed to compete after the organizers rejected her for having dual citizenship.
Cyrille is the latest Filipina to win the Miss Tourism International crown after Jannie Loudette Alipo-on (2017), Angeli Dione Gomez (2013), Rizzini Alexis Gomez (2012), and Maria Esperanza Manzano (2000).
