Singer Lilet feels both excited and nervous about her showbiz comeback via ABS-CBN's newest teleserye titled Forevermore.
The '80s music talent said she did not really plan to return to showbiz until she got an acting offer from the Kapamilya Nnetwork. She recalled that the offer came after she made a guest appearance on the game show The Singing Bee.
Since it's been more than two decades ago when she was last seen in showbiz, the former soda commercial model admitted, “Nangangalawang talaga, to be honest, noong simula kasi nga ang tagal kong huminto.”
Lilet—who was last seen as a haunted ghost in the 1989 comedy-horror movie Dear Diary—said everything felt new to her during her taping day for her first television series.
“Ang saya kasi kakaiba siya. Never pa ako nakagawa ng teleserye,” she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal) and other reporters during a recent visit to the set of Forevermore.
She continued, “At the same time, challenging talaga kasi totoo pala 'yong sinasabi nila tungkol sa schedule ng teleserye. Like the other day, 7 a.m. ang call, natapos kami 5 a.m. the following day at diretso na uwi.
“Okay naman siya. Challenging in a way kasi sa script madalas nare-revise nang nare-revise. 'Yong tipong na-memorize mo na, biglang na-revise, pero magandang exercise for the brain lalo na may edad na tayo.”
In this series featuring the new Kapamilya loveteam, Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil, Lilet is cast as the workaholic mom of Enrique's character.
According to the returning singer-actress, the character she's portraying is totally the opposite of her personality.
As a wife and a mom to her seven-year-old daughter, Lilet disclosed that she had to consult her husband before accepting the project.
“Nag-consult din ako sa husband ko kung okay lang, baka kasi bigla na lang akong sabunutan kapag nasa mall. Sabi niya, it's just a role.
“Tinanong ko rin naman sila kung may redeeming factor ang role ko.
“Sabi naman ng staff, palaging may redeeming factor at may matutunan sa mga character na ginagawa nila.”
Because of her new project, Lilet said that her way of watching TV shows has already changed.
“Dati enjoy lang akong nanonood. Pero ngayon, kapag nanonood ako, mas conscious na ako sa kung paano ang acting nila,” she said with a laugh.
