Nagpakita ng suporta ang ilan sa Kapamilya stars sa ABS-CBN kasunod ng paghahain ni Solicitor General Jose Calida ng Office of the Solicitor General (OSG) ng quo warranto petition laban sa Kapamilya network.
Ngayong Lunes, February 10, isinumite ni Calida sa Supreme Court ang kanyang “Very Urgent Omnibus Motion” dahil sa aniya'y “highly abusive practices of ABS-CBN.”
Layon ng petisyon na ipawalang-bisa ang prangkisa ng network at ang subsidiary nitong ABS-CBN Convergence Inc.
Ang ABS-CBN Convergence Inc. ang telecommunications unit ng network giant, na namamahala sa digital TV service nito kagaya ng ABS-CBN TV Plus at wireless mobile phone service na ABS-CBN Mobile.
Inihain ni Calida ang petisyon isang buwan bago mag-expire ang license to operate ng ABS-CBN sa March 30, 2020.
Ayon sa Section 1, Rule 66 ng Rules of Court, ang Quo Warranto ay “Action by Government against individuals. — An action for the usurpation of a public office, position or franchise may be commenced by a verified petition brought in the name of the Republic of the Philippines against:
“(a) A person who usurps, intrudes into, or unlawfully holds or exercises a public office, position or franchise;
“(b) A public officer who does or suffers an act which, by the provision of law, constitutes a ground for the forfeiture of his office; or
“(c) An association which acts as a corporation within the Philippines without being legally incorporated or without lawful authority so to act. (1a)"
ABS-CBN STARS POST SUPPORT FOR ABS-CBN
Bilang tugon sa petisyon ng OSG, naglabas ng official statement ang ABS-CBN.
Sa statement, mariing itinanggi ng TV network na mayroon silang mga nilabag na batas pagdating sa kanilang franchise at business operations.
Bahagi ng pahayag ng ABS-CBN: “We reiterate that everything we do is in accordance with the law.
“We did not violate the law.
“This case appears to be an attempt to deprive Filipinos of the services of ABS-CBN.”
Kasunod nito ay nagpahayag ng suporta sa ABS-CBN ang ilang Kapamilya stars sa pamamagitan ng pagpu-post sa Instagram ng ABS-CBN logo and tagline, gayundin ang kopya ng official statement ng ABS-CBN.
Kabilang sa mga nag-post sa Instagram sina Regine Velasquez, Angel Locsin, Coco Martin, Bianca Gonzalez, Gerald Anderson, Karla Estrada, JM de Guzman, Agot Isidro, Nikki Valdez, Amy Perez, at Jolina Magdangal.
Pare-pareho sila ng mga post, pero may ilan sa kanila na ginamit pa ang hashtags na #WeDidNotViolateTheLaw #intheserviceofthefilipino.
Mayroon ding ilan na nagbigay ng mensahe sa caption ng kanilang post.
Mensahe ni Coco sa kanyang post: "Mahabang taon na napatunayan ng ABS CBN na kahit ano man ang dumating na pagsubok sa ating bansa lagi sila nandyan para tumulong sa ating bayan!!!"
Puno naman ng pag-asa ang post ni Angel.
Aniya: "Praying that the law shall be used to protect jobs, press freedom, justice and betterment of the Filipino people [praying emoji]."
Si John Prats, 35, sinabi na ang ABS-CBN ang kanyang naging tahanan sa loob ng 28 taon.
Maliban sa Kapamilya stars, nagpakita rin ng suporta sa ABS-CBN ang ilang TV executives, TV-film directors, at mga empleyado ng Kapamilya Network.
