Manny Pangilinan, Mayor Isko Moreno heed the appeal of President Duterte to compensate employees

Kaagad na tumugon ang business magnate na si Manny V. Pangilinan ng MVP Group of Companies sa panawagang tulungan ang kanilang mga kawani na pansamantalang hindi makakapasok sa trabaho dahil sa COVID-19.

Nanawagan si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa mga malalaking kumpanya na makisama sa gobyerno sa laban nito sa paglaganap na virus na walang cure.

Ang apela ay ginawa ng Pangulo sa isang public address ngayong Lunes ng gabi, March 16, matapos ipag-utos ang tigil-trabaho sa maraming sektor .

Bahagi ng pahayag ng Pangulo: “The problem really is the economy.

"Maybe you can consider paying the 13th month pay or just paying them maski kalahati sa suweldo nila kung talagang walang trabaho, as a way of showing your solidarity to the Filipino at this critical time.

“We want to do business, we want to make money, but there is no interaction now and there is no trade to speak of.”

Sana rin daw ay tulungan ng malalaking kumpanya ang mga maliliit na negosyanteng maapektuhan ng COVID-19 outbreak.

“Kindly cooperate. Mas mabuti pa tumulong muna kayo.

"I will repay you with a good heart in the coming days.

“To the private sector, I have this appeal, magbayahinan kayo.”

Sa pamamagitan ng Twitter, inanunsiyo ni Manny Pangilinan na tatalima ang kanyang mga kumpanya sa pakiusap ng Pangulo.

Nabanggit ni Duterte ang pangalan ni Pangilinan sa kanyang public address.

Kabilang sa mga kumpanya ng MVP Group of Companies ang TV5, Meralco, PLDT, First Pacific, Metro Pacific Investments, Smart, Digitel, Sun Cellular, SPI Global, ePLDT, Indofood, Metro Pacific Tollways, Mediaquest, at Maynilad.

Nasa ilalim din ng pamamahala nila ang iPlus, PLDT Global, Asian Hospital and Medical Center, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Makati Medical Center, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Davao Doctors Hospital, at Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital.

Sabi ni Pangilinan sa kanyang sunud-sunod na tweets kagabi:

Inatasan ng alkalde ang city council na gumawa ng resolusyon upang mapagbigyan ang hiling ng Pangulo para sa mga manggagawa ng Maynila.

Ayon sa post ng Manila Public Information Office sa Facebook kagabi:

“Manila City Mayor Francisco 'Isko Moreno' Domagoso has asked the City Council to authorize the early release of the midyear bonus of all regular employees of the city government amid the COVID-19 pandemic.”
