Most Cabinet members to donate 75% of monthly salary for COVID-19 response

Most CabSecs will allot portion of their salaries to fund efforts vs COVID-19.

Napagkasunduan ng karamihan sa Gabinete ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na i-donate ang 75 percent ng kanilang buwanang suweldo sa pondo ng gobyerno.

Ito raw ay upang makatulong sa mga programa sa pagsugpo ng COVID-19.

Inanunsiyo ito ni Cabinet Secretary at Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases Spokesperson Karlo Nograles ngayong Sabado, April 4.

Iniulat ang kanyang anunsiyo ng Philippine News Agency (PNA) na umere sa government station na PTV-4.

Pahayag ng Cabinet Secretary: “Majority ng mga miyembro ng Gabinete ni Pangulong Duterte ay boluntaryong ibibigay ang malaking bahagi—75 percent ng kanilang buwanang sahod—upang ilaan sa mga programa ng gobyerno upang sugpuin ang COVID-19 sa loob ng panahong ipinapatupad ang Bayanihan Law.”

Ang Bayahihan Law o mas kilala bilang Bayanihan to Heal As One Act (Republic Act 11469) ay ang batas na nagbibigay kay Pangulong Duterte ng "additional authority" at emergency fund na Php275 billion para malabanan ang COVID-19 crisis.

Mula sa nasabing pondo, ang Php200 billion ay dapat mapunta sa mga mahihirap— mga 18 milyong pamilya—na apektado sa Enhanced Community Quarantine.

Ang Php75 billion naman ay nakalaan sa pagbili ng medical supplies para sa mga ospital.

UNTIL DECEMBER

Ayon pa kay Secretary Nograles, kabilang siya sa mga miyembro ng Gabinete na boluntaryong magbibigay ng bahagi ng kanilang suweldo.

Sa ulat naman ng ABS-CBN News Online, sinabi ng Cabinet Secretary na, "Ilan sa ating mga kasamahan ay boluntaryong babawasan ang kanilang mga sahod hanggang Disyembre pa ngayong taon para sa mga programang ito."

Hindi naman pinangalanan ni Secretary Nograles kung sinu-sino ang mga Cabinet officials na magbibigay ng donasyon.
