Sarah Geronimo's “Tala” became a viral dance craze many years after it first hit the airwaves. This time, it is resurrected again. Zendee Rose Tenerefe has just created a parody of Sarah's song to capture the restlessness of many in a time of quarantine.
Zendee turned “Tala” into “Gala.”
Gala here means to loiter or to wander, the very opposite of what everyone in Luzon has been instructed to do, which is to stay at home
We are still under the enhanced community quarantine implemented last March 17, 2020, and extended to April 30, 2020, to contain the spread of COVID-19.
In Zendee's parody uploaded on her Tiktok account, the melody of "Tala" has been retained, but the lyrics have been replaced with words that express what people miss most, like going on road trips or going to the beach.
The lyrics of Zendee's "Gala" goes: “Tila ko'y puro tulog lang at kain. Maggagabi na nga, nakahiga pa rin. Hanggang kailan pa ba tayo ganito? Nami-miss ko na mag-dagat at mag-road trip habang kapiling ka. At kung umabot pa ito hanggang Mayo, kapit lang nang mahigpit at tayo rin muling makakagala. Gala, gala, gala...”
