Pag-amin ni Lauren Young, 26, sobrang laki ng insecurity ng mga artista.
Bagamat isa rin siyang artista, trabaho lang daw ang tingin niya rito.
“It’s just a job that I have. It’s a great job,” paglilinaw ng Kapuso actress.
Aminado si Lauren na maraming advantage ang pagiging celebrity, pero hindi lang daw rito umiikot ang buhay niya.
“I have a lot of perks with it.
“But at the end of the day, when I go home, I’m me, I’m not the kontrabida I portray on TV," pagtukoy ni Lauren sa mga roles na ginampanan niya sa TV.
“It’s just something that I do, but it’s not who I am.
“I don’t let it define me, ‘coz I pride myself to think and to know that if I wasn’t an actress, I could do ten other things.
“It’s not the end of the world, di ba?”
Ibinahagi ito ng Kapuso actress sa podcast interview sa kanya ng mag-asawang Saab Magalona at Jim Bacarro noong June 25.
MOST INSECURE PEOPLE
Dismayado raw si Lauren na makitang maraming artista ang ginagawang sukatan ng kanilang pagkatao ang kasikatan.
Kinukuha raw nila ang self-validation mula sa papuri ng fans.
“I feel, like, that’s what I find so sad in this industry, is parang akala mo pag tiningnan mo kasi ang mga artista na ang confident-confident nila.
“Bullsh*t! They’re the most insecure people that you’ll ever meet.
"Honestly, they are,” giit ni Lauren.
Karamihan daw sa kanila, tumataas ang tingin sa sarili dahil sa mga tili at papuri ng kanilang supporters.
Gayunpaman, nilinaw ni Lauren na hindi niya nilalahat ang mga artista.
“Siyempre, not everyone, but a lot of them.
“They’re used to having a spectacle of people around them and praising them.
“Lifting them up and licking their assh*les for f*ck*ng attention.”
Malalim ang hugot ni Lauren dahil hindi raw siya pabor sa mentalidad ng ibang artistang pinapaikot ang kanilang buhay sa showbiz.
Ito rin daw ang rason kaya masyadong mahigpit ang kumpetisyon sa pagitan ng mga arista.
“I’m not like that. I know my flaws and I know my strengths,” pahayag ni Lauren.
“And it’s just sad because they are built to think na artista ka lang, na hanggang dito ka lang, eto lang yung kaya mong gawin.
“So, there’s no surprise why they are so cutthroat in that industry.
“It’s because they’re so insecure that they feel, like, ‘Pag nawala na kasi ‘to, wala na akong relevance, wala na akong kabuhayan, I don’t have money.’”
Marami raw sa mga artista ang ganito mag-isip.
“A lot of people really depend on that. People crave for relevance.”
SHOWBIZ IS NOT EVERYTHING
Para kay Lauren, mahal niya ang showbiz dahil kumikita siya habang ginagawa ang gusto niya—ang pag-arte.
“I’m an actor, well… because the money is good, honestly, and because I like to act.
“But I hate the fame that comes with it,” sundot ng aktres.
Hindi rin daw minamasama ni Lauren na napapasaya niya ang fans.
"But I don’t like to be put on pedestal as if I’m the most important person in this world, because I know I’m not.”
Katwiran ni Lauren, hindi dapat paikutin ng isang artista ang kanyang buhay sa showbiz at sa mga tili ng fans.
“It’s just about knowing your place, but at the same time, having confidence instilled in yourself that you can do so much than this.
“And this is not just who you are. There’s so many different things about you that you can be proud of.”
Isang taon nang hindi umaarte si Lauren.
Kung noon daw niya ito naranasan, marahil ay nagmumukmok na siya dahil wala nang kumukuha sa kanya.
Pero marami raw naituro sa kanya ang isang taong walang proyekto.
“If they gave a show tomorrow, great! I’ll be super grateful and happy to have work.
“But if they didn’t, so what? I’ll do something else,” sabi niya.
Huling napanood si Lauren sa Kapuso teleseryeng Hiram na Anak noong 2019.
Gumagawa rin ng pangalan si Lauren sa pagiging social media influencer.
ON MUDSLINGING TROLLS
Dahil sa pagiging vocal ni Lauren sa kanyang opinyon—mapa-pulitika man o showbiz—tampulan siya ng pambabatikos.
Pero alam niyang marami sa mga ito ay mga troll, lalo na kapag may kinalaman sa pulitika ang kanyang social media posts.
Ang troll ay instigator sa social media na ang pangunahing intensiyon ay humikayat ng iba para magkaroon ng pagkokontra.
Ani Lauren, nakaranas siya ng matitinding pambabatikos ng mga troll at madalas siyang tawaging "laos."
Pero hindi na raw siya tinatablan.
“Why would I get affected if someone calls me laos?
“It’s not the truth because I’m not laos. Never naman akong sumikat nang bongga, so joke on you…”
Pero hindi naman daw sa lahat ng oras ay defensive si Lauren sa mga kritiko niya.
“Sometimes I take it that’s something really bad, but also sometimes I read through it and see, ‘Did I do something wrong?’"
Kung alam daw niyang may katwiran ang pagpuna sa kanya ay nakikinig siya “and improve on myself.”
