Pahayag ng Pangulo, "I am a casualty of the Lopezes during the 2016 elections."

PRESIDENT BLASTS DRILON'S DEFENSE OF ABS-CBN

Sabi ng Pangulo, "My countrymen, it is sad that while the government focuses its attention and resources to battle the coronavirus, there are those who take advantage of the preoccupied government.

"One of them is Senator Frank Drilon.

"In an interview, he arrogantly mentioned among others, 'Oligarchs need not be rich.'

"Then he linked the anti-dynasty system with oligarchy, and the topic was my daughter and son."

"I AM A CASUALTY OF THE LOPEZES..."

Tukoy ni Duterte sa tirada sa kanya ni Drilon: "This happened after the [House] committee of [legislative] franchise, voted 70-11 to deny the grant of franchise to ABS-CBN.

"Obviously, he was defending the Lopezes, that they are not oligarchs."

"Media is a powerful tool in the hands of oligarchs like the Lopezes who use their media outlets in their battles with political figures."

Diin niya, "I am a casualty of the Lopezes during the 2016 elections."

AFTER ABS-CBN, PRESIDENT ISSUES WARNING TO TELCOS

Aniya, "For the remaining two years of my term, all that is good that belongs to the government—whether it be the airwaves, whether it be the lines, or whatever that is good for the people—will belong to the government, and it should be the government's the first option to utilize them.

"I'll be strict, 'yang Smart pati itong Globe, ilang taon na ito? At ang sagot palagi sa akin, 'The party cannot be reached.'

"I might just as well close all of you and revert to the line of telephone, at kukunin ko 'yan, i-expropriate ko sa gobyerno."

Ubos na raw ang pasensiya ng taumbayan.

"I will be the one to articulate the anger of the Filipino people. And you might not want what I intend to do with you," saad ng Pangulo.

"The next two years will be spent improving the telecommunications of this country without you.

"I will find a way, I will talk to Congress and find a way how to do it."

DRILON: "I WAS DEFENDING FREEDOM OF THE PRESS, NOT THE LOPEZES."

Pahayag ni Drilon, "I was defending freedom of the press, not the Lopezes. The closure of the ABS-CBN sent a chilling effect.

"As I said before, for democracy to thrive we need free press and to allow journalists to exercise complete freedom to do their mandate of reporting facts without fear.

"In the face of a pandemic, we need more access to info. I aired my support for renewal of franchise of ABS-CBN because undeniably the network complements other stations in providing timely and accurate reportage even in farthest locality unreachable to others, even to government.

"I was defending the 11,000 people and their families who would lose jobs amid the pandemic, not the Lopezes."
