The ABS-CBN Foundation will also launch the book titled I Am Gina.

Written by Jenie Chan, it contains untold stories about Gina’s life as a missionary in Africa and India.

Susan Afan, the managing director of ABS-CBN Foundation, said about this celebration, “The encompassing message of Gina’s life and works is about love—love for children, love for the environment and love for country and humankind. Hence, the theme of this month-long celebration is ‘Genuine Love Forever’.”

Gina, the daughter of the late ABS-CBN Chairman Emeritus Eugenio Lopez Jr., served the Philippine government as Secretary of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources from June 30, 2016 to May 3, 2017.

Before serving the government, she used to be the managing director of the ABS-CBN Foundation.

Among her notable projects were:

  • The Educational Television (ETV), featuring children's shows Sineskwela, Bayani, and Hiraya Manawari, was her brainchild.
  • ABS-CBN Foundation’s social welfare program Bantay Bata 163, where people can report incidents of child abuse.
  • Reforestation of the La Mesa Watershed and the cleanup of the Pasig River.

“She loves the environment so much. She does. But the reason she loves the environment is because of what it can do for us, what it can do for our country. She loves people and she loves the environment because of what it can do for people.”
