The anchors of GMA-7’s flagship news program, 24 Oras, went viral on Tiktok, with the netizens lauding the way they handled a glitch that almost disrupted the May 4, 2021 broadcast.
In the last part of the program, Vicky Morales, Pia Arcangel, and Atom Araullo delivered their spiels introducing a report by Mark Salazar about a child named Ghlynnyl Hylhyr Yzzyghyl, who is also known as “Baby Consonant.”
The segment already started showing montage of babies when the report suddenly went blackout.
When the frame returned to the studio, Vicky, Pia, and Atom were smiling.
Vicky calmly said, “Na-suspend! At saka na lang natin babalikan iyang kuwentong iyan, siguro, bukas ano? Wala na tayong time, sige.
“Sayang, sige bukas na lang.”
However, it seemed like the management decided to continue the report.
In no time, Vicky segued into a small banter with her co-anchors.
She asked Atom: “Ikaw ba Atom, bakit Atom ang pangalan mo?”
Atom answered: “Iyan ay galing sa Alfonso Tomas, pangalan ng dalawa kong lolo.”
Vicky quipped: “Ah, Alfonso Tomas! Akala ko dahil mahilig ka sa Science. Sabagay mas okay na iyon kaysa ano, puwede ring Toma!”
Vicky then asked Pia about her name.
Pia related: “Ako, ipinangalan ako kay Padre Pio kasi hirap iyong mother ko noong nagbubuntis siya sa akin. Kay Padre Pio.”
Pia and Atom then asked Vicky about her name.
Laughing, Vicky admitted: “Actually, believe it or not, diyusko, nakakahiya. Hindi ko pa natatanong iyong mommy ko bakit Vicky ang pangalan ko! Ma, gagawin ko iyan mamaya, ha!”
Afterwards, Vicky introduced the report again: “O ayan, balikan na natin ang kuwentong iyan, heto siya.”
However, it went blackout again.
Atom said in jest, “Ayaw talaga. Hahaha! Ayaw talaga.”
Pia and Vicky then said “Bukas na lang” and delivered their closing spiels.
