Josephine "Yeng" Constantino composed Hawak Kamay when she was only fourteen years old. Little did she know that four years later, it would be named the Best Movie Theme Song in the 2006 Metro Manila Film Fest-Philippines (MMFF-P). Star Cinema chose Hawak Kamay as the original theme song for the movie Kasal, Kasali, Kasalo, which stars real-life sweethearts Judy Ann Santos and Ryan Agoncillo.
Yeng's composition bested other entries such as My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own (sung by Christian Bautista), which was the original theme song of the MMFF-P movie Mano Po 5: Gua Ai Di (I Love You).
Eighteen-year-old Yeng—the youngest of the 20 contestants—was named Pinoy Dream Academy's grand star dreamer at the Araneta Center last December 16, 2006. She won a condominium unit in GA Towers, located along EDSA in Mandaluyong City. Other prizes include a Suzuki Swift, 60-inch SXRD Sony Bravia, Touch Music video unit, a Belgian Waffle dine-in franchise, a recording contract and P1 million from Fitrum.
Nowadays, Yeng is busy working on her album and appearing on ABS-CBN shows such as ASAP and Wowowee. She particularly appreciates the condominium unit she received after winning the ABS-CBN talent search. Her manager Jay Lavilles reveals that Yeng's house in Rizal is scheduled to be demolished by March.
When they first met, Jay likened Yeng to a "diamond in the rough." The two met accidentally in a little-known club in Marikina. When he heard her sing alternative band Evanescence's Bring Me to Life, he immediately troubled the waiters for a chance to speak to her.
At that time, Yeng was struggling to make a name in the highly competitive music industry. The youngest of five, she did not go to college in order to save money for the studies of her siblings. It was Jay who convinced her to join PDA—paving the way for her newfound success in music.
