Out na sa Miss Universe Philippines 2021 pageant ang kandidata ng Cagayan Province na si Gianne "Gi" Krysse Tecson Asuncion.
Nahawaan ng COVID-19 si Gi kaya minabuti ng Miss Universe Philippines Organization na huwag na itong patuluyin sa kumpetisyon.
Nakapasok si Gi sa Top 50, ngunit hindi na siya isinali sa pinagpipilian para sa Top 30.
Narito ang buong anunsiyo ng Miss Universe Philippines Cagayan Province noong Lunes, August 23:
“We regret to inform our supporters that Miss Cagayan Province 2021 will no longer participate in the 2nd edition of Miss Universe Philippines.
“The MUPh Organization has decided to no longer allow our delegate, Miss Gi Asuncion, to continue owing to her hospitalization due to COVID-19.
“This heartbreaking decision was reached by them considering the stress the pageant activities would take a huge toll on Miss Asuncion’s health which could impede her faster recovery.
“We, Team Cagayan, agree with this decision as we also put premium on the health and well being of our delegate above anything else.
“To Miss Asuncion, we thank you hugely for ably representing us in the national stage and for bringing to the fore the admirable qualities of a modern Cagayana.
“You will always be our Miss Cagayan Province 2021.
“And to the talents, creatives, and supporters who supported Miss Asuncion’s journey, no words can express our appreciation.
“We will come back stronger next year.”
“MY BODY HAS ITS LIMITS”
Malaki rin ang panghihinayang ni Gi na hindi na siya matutuloy sa Miss Universe Philippines 2021.
Halos nasa kalagitnaan na kasi siya ng laban at hinihintay na lamang ang announcement ng Top 30 para mapabilang sa official candidates.
Mensahe ni Gi sa kanyang Instagram post kagabi, August 24, “We were halfway there.
“Funny as it sounds, discovering that I have COVID and pnuemonia gave me more motivation to push through with my supposed MUPh journey.
“An idea hit me about being an instrument of hope and courage for all patients like me who are battling for their lives. I wanted to keep on fighting while I still can.
“I wanted to show the universe that I can get up and continue on this journey. That’s also how I want everyone else to handle life right now.
“However, I am only human. My body has its limits. I should be first to respect it if it needs to rest and recover. As much as my heart wants to continue on the journey and enjoy the rest of it, my body also needs to function well.”
Nais daw sana ni Gi na ipakita ang kultura at magagandang kaugalian ng kanyang probinsiya.
Aniya, “I wanted to showcase more of my Cagayana side.
“I wanted to make my Province proud and be the best representative that they deserve.
“I saw how the people in my province united to produce a strong Cagayana contender for MUPh.
“With the efforts they’ve done, collectively, we were able to consecutively land on the top 15 on all the challenges.
“Thank you so much team Cagayan for all your efforts and dedication!”
